NY chicken lover!!!!

Does anyone set up breeding pens here? I've got all my Cochins separated into 3 groups, 1 rooster and 2 hens in each pen, but I'm planning on moving them all into one big barn and deprecating the barn into small pens. If anyone does have breeding pens can the post some photos to maybe give me some ideas of how I want to divide it up. I have a good idea of what I'm gonna do but maybe there another idea I might like more.

Also, I know I'm always posting about where I can find more Cochins, but does anyone know where I can get decent quality bearded silkies? I'm think about adding a trio of them or a pair. I also am looking for ameraucanas for egg layers. And like I said I'm also searching for Cochins. I wish I had the contact still from the last I sold a good number of my old flock to, I would like to buy some bank or maybe some chicks she had from them but I can't find her contact information anywhere.

I did. That's what triggered my research. Baby emus are adorable. Big emus are a challenge because we haven't repaired our barns. The coop barn will get some work this year, but not enough to add an emu.

They are interesting birds, but I can honestly say I have no desire to own one.
I can easily get overwhelmed with chickens, and it's only the dog keeping me from getting a few ducks (we have a lovely pond!!). I look at peafowl and game fowl and quails....but I think I'd be a bit nervous to own an emu.

I have really nice bearded silkies. I have eggs in the incubator due to hatch April 1st if your interested in chicks. If so, pm me and I can show you photos of my birds. I'm in Lake Pleasant, NY.

Deprecating?

I've read where folks divide their flocks up into breeding pens, then putting them out together again after the eggs are collected or all the chicks are hatched. If you looking to improve your SOP it takes a lot of chicks and hard culling.

I'll look forward to lots of pictures.
