NY chicken lover!!!!

Exciting times here - one of our Easter Eggers has started laying, unsure if it's Dove or Princess Di, but have never had blue shelled eggs before, so still get a little thrill when I check the nest box.

The girls enjoyed those warmer days last week, didn't even seem to care about the rain when they got the chance to peck and scratch on the muddy grass for the afternoon. They always look so funny and spiky when they get wet!

Congrats on the blue egg. I love your sweet little chicken family.

Interesting. I am reading of different breeds Braekel>Welsumer....
We will be want to add to our Flock. We always had just Silkies.
We love them...but they are NOT good layers. We now have
on Rhode Island Red, 3 Easter Eggers. They lay large eggs.
Looking forward to adding other breeds. Regards, Aria

Have you applied the blood stopper?
No I think her feet where bleeding because she was walking on them ..she was trying to get to the coop . The baking soda water bath worked great for stopping the bleeding and warmed her up .
You can also use flour or corn starch to stop bleeding .
When my chicken Baby was a chick she had a another hen attack her..
The blood was pouring out of her neck so much I thought she was a goner .
I held my finger & thumb on her neck for pressure ..and put corn starch on it
it stopped bleeding immediately

I'll be setting as many as I get March 10th for the Easter hatch along. If they start laying ...
