NY chicken lover!!!!

Beer can, I make an effort to not complain about the weather every season. I have had enough of winter. If this weather arrived in February.... oops... not complaining.... right. I miss complaining about the heat.

Gramma, I'm sorry about Cowboy. Hopefully you can stop the infection for the hen.

Emus.... do they free range without running away? Lol.

Hello, everyone! It's been a while. I know, i've been slacking. How's everyone doing? I read a few of the previous pages to attempt to see what's been happening recently. Gramma, I'm sorry to hear about Cowboy, and Rancher, I'm so very, very sorry about your wife's condition. Cancer is indeed a terrible disease. Hello to the people who don't know or remember me from last year. I cannot believe Old Man Winter won't let us be. I need to warm my bones in the sunshine.

In my search to help Cowboy

the Dr told me
general vets carry injectable enrofloxacin (Baytril) which is a potent broad spectrum antibiotic valuable for poultry infections. Dosing is in the wide range of 5-20 mg/kg intramuscularly (painful), subcutaneously, or the injectable solution can be given orally every 12 hours for 5-7 days.

You can also buy it online. I have the oral solution on hand just in case.

Does the oral ( pills ? ) Shelf life last longer ?
Good Idea ...Some Vets will sell it to you ..
Mine will sell me Meds if I know what I need
Are you still planning to be a VET ?

Mine never wants to sell me something unless they see the bird, which is a giant pain. The oral solution is just a water soluble version, so you can directly give it to a sick bird or put it in the water and dose that way.

I'd like to be! Costs an arm and a leg, though. I really would like to finish up my vet tech degree. Haven't done it yet, though. I need to get my butt moving on it. Just don't really want to take out more loans.
