NY chicken lover!!!!

went to TSC today, saw some friends, and something funny happened.
It was a "chick day", and as usually, the families were so amused by the chicks. The family next to me was saying "oh, aw, is he dead!?" and the boy started crying. the mom then said "well we don't know if he is dead", and I replied "oh trust me when I say he is a goner!....."
and the family really awkwardly walked away.....
It was quite funny.

that poor chick and poor boy...maybe he just lost his pet and that's why he was crying.....Kinda reminds me of when my doctor called me to tell me he thought I had leukemia and a friend of mine had just DIED of that disease after knowing she had it only 3 months. I freaked out. I DO have leukemia, but mine is chronic, not acute, so I won't die any time soon, like she did. I don't think I would have thought it funny if someone told me horror stories about Leukemia while I waited for results of my own tests.

Oh, that's horrible..... I feel terrible for you. TSC needs to step it up in quality.......

Perhaps to you. I'll bet it wasn't funny to the family. Not everyone who goes to TSC is a farmer.

just wanted to post up and say hello from Cato NY ( south of Fulton ) with my 12 TSC chicks that I am brooding now. Will post more questions on design of my tractor coop and the features I have to have when I know what they are. I have raised birds in the past mostly Ducks and Pheasants but they were used for training my Field trial dogs (Labrador retreivers) and not intended for long term care.

I used to work for Happy Days Ice cream stand lots of years ago. My brother owned it. They're now in NC.

Drove down to Middletown to pick up a new-in-box beehive (to be assembled
th.gif
) now driving up the mountain to the sawmill to pick up hemlock 2 x 10 x 8's for my raised garden beds, then to check water, etc for the animals and clean this stinkin' house. Working full-time really messes up my weekends...

Sunday being the 18th day was correct. Tues. to Thurs would be day 20-22. I am so distracted about doing everything right that I wrote the wrong days for hatching. I candled on dayt 16 and don't see any movement. Just dark packed eggs and air pockets. Past 2 years I candled I thought there was movement. I am worried that something went wrong but I'm not sure which factor it was. So I am planning a back up - like going to TSC and getting chicks -then trying again later in May. Unless Cass has some new borns I could buy????? I hear she is hatching Monday?
K.............

I just can't disappoint these 5-6 year olds who have been writing and observing the eggs every day!!! When candled on day 10, they jumped for joy. I will do whatever needs to be done to at least give them some chicks if none hatch.
