NY chicken lover!!!!

GE now makes 90 watt bulbs. 100 watt incandecent bulbs are no longer legal to sell in the USA...I am SURE that the government is going to ban 90 watt bulbs too....and probably soon....so if you weren't able to stock pile 100 watt bulbs for heating small areas, you might want to get some 90 watt bulbs to have around.

why have 100 watt bulbs be banned?

I think they plan on doing away with all incandescent light bulbs replacing them with the new type(spiral) It's sad I've been stocking up Yes I do everything I can to recycle and save energy

that is crazy! Our government doesn't have anything better to do than determine how I light my house? I do use flourecent(sp? I still can't get spell check to work on this site) in most places, but sometimes I just want incandescent lighting.

Welcome to the club, Jakesbigpoppa! We are a friendly bunch around here. Always nice to have another chicken lover come aboard.

Aria--have you gotten a response about those silkies yet???

Ginny--stockpiling while I can. Those spiral ones save energy but are darn expensive and nothing works like the regular light bulbs for heat. I use them in my cookie tin water heater and for brooder lamps. I tried the heat lamps and red ones and ceramic ones and they all blew out on me while I was brooding. I was not happy and neither were the chicks. The regular bulbs seem to work best.

Off to the tailgate sale in Highland today. From all the chatter, I think there is going to be a lot for sale and a lot of people coming to the sale. Hopefully I can pick up some chick stuff for the newbies. I have to stay strong...sniff...as I have 25 coming tuesday. Ohh the temptation though...also going to check out tsc. First time for me. Hopefully I can find rubber boots. Now if I had won that lottery, I could come home with all kinds of cheeps and have housing delivered for them!!!

My divas have forgiven me for the snow. Of course, some leftover pork helped smooth things over. They left me 6 eggs as a thanks. What good girls!

I will return later with a report on the sale.

I have antique fixtures all over my home and those spiral bulbs don't fit in most of them. I put away my soap box years ago but I truly think this country needs to be a little less concerned about reusing their grocery bags and seriously look into water conservation I can see people going crazy about this statement already so if I anger anyone I apologize ahead of time

Agree about the spell check
