NY chicken lover!!!!

I heard Red stilettos and a little lip stick does the trick. I am very jealous of all the new baby talk; wish I was hatching some. Congrats too all of the new parents out there

I can see me now chasing her around, lipstick in hand. any cartoonists among us?

Have you guys heard the term santa bunny? My coworker's girlfriend bought their kids bikes and power wheels for easter so he deemed that the santa bunny was coming to his house. I thought it was cute and funny so I had to share. I can't wait for my girls to wake up and realize that the Easter bunny came. We colored eggs last night and they had a blast. My 2 year old has a blue hand because she wanted to dunk her hand instead of the egg.
We have 2 pips this morning and some peeping. In the barn we have 8 broodies and 1 thinking about it. I think we our going to have quite a few chicks around in the next month being we also have 90 eggs in the frigabator too. Tis the season for babies.

Shoot! I got a cool tye die kit,, I hard boiled eggs then for got to die them. oh well. thanks for the white eggs anyway Amy(henicillin) It stinks to get old!!!

OMG I have more pips! Don't throw those eggs out early, kiddos! I had a bunch of dead in shell chicks yesterday (pipped, no noise, opened and dead) so thought the hatch was over. But what the heck, left the eggs in along with some 'ICU' patients. And a few more have pipped! These are eggs that made no noise and had no movement when candled. Wow. So more babies might be on the way.

We're going to pick up some lumber for the run today. I want to try to do a lot of it by myself if I can. I think I may have to either go roofless (with knotted 2" netting) OR put in extra effort on the roof - that area in the yard gets a lot of snow dumped from the very tall trees.

I never unload the bator until day 25. Late hatches happen often. Like I always say on the old fashioned broody thread, chickens can't tell time or read calenders.

Yah, well I had some definite 'dead after pipping' eggs and no other pips but what the heck, keep em in. And now I have more chicks! :) I think temp was low in that bator - I had two thermometers and neither agreed.

I think I'll sell off about half of these chicks, but will wait until next weekend when TSC is out and it's far enough after easter to avoid that crowd.

Hope everyone has a great day! =) =) I tried to dye eggs using red cabbage, which gives you blue dye - looked awesome in the instructions but isn't doing much for my eggs. The red onion dye always works wonderfully so I'm going to check again to see what I screwed up.

Morning all and Happy Easter! I hope all of you who are pipping are now zipping and hatching this morning. I looked in at the bator this morning but all is quiet yet. The baby hooligans downstairs were still sleeping when I went out to let everyone out. Rough night of butt wiping and lubing tired them out I guess. Hens were mad that I was late getting out there. Figures since I had to wake their butts up the last two mornings I went out to let them out. Sarah (one of my silkie hens) felt the need for cuddling this morning so I hope the neighbors were still asleep and didnt see me out there in my nightgown. Sarah likes to be held and petted and I have been busy the last couple of days so I gave her the attention she wanted. Yes, my cheeps own me.

Ginny--had to trim up my silkie roos butt feathers as he had poop all in them. I will trim the girls as well so that there is a better chance of the breeding being successful.

Stony--hope all your cheeps hatch! I cant wait for mine to start.

Rancher--finish that coop yet? Ever have RIR"s? I have been reading up on them and it seem either people love them or hate them. I am hoping mine are good ones and I get nice roos. Anything other than nice is freezer camp.

Everyone have a good day!

i may sell off 1/2 of mine as well, the same way. I think, hard to count them, but I think 25 are out so far. Really hard to count the little buggers in the bator....

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Easter!

I hope you all have a sweet day. I know we will being that I just got done making cream cheese whipped cream frosting for my homemade chocolate cake I made last night.

Had to put sprinkles on for Fiona too. My oldest has quite the sweet tooth like her daddy.

Happy Easter and hatching days everyone! Hubby wants more heavy laying chickens, so need more chicks here!

Not quite sure what we would do with that many eggs, we do go through 12-16 eggs per week. And I want what he calls 'pretty' birds. Still looking for Wellsummer, Dominque, Speckled Sussex. And since we only have one of each, another 1 or 2 Australorp, Wyandotte and EE. I know Tab and Trav have the Wyandotte and EEs, might have to take a road trip.
Little girl had a good easter already this morning, bunny left her a kiddie wheelborrow full of books. She has been looking through the books all morning.
/agree. Anyone need any chicks in my area just let me know. Come and get em! LOL. I only hold back a few breeds (like my NN!).

We have 2 week old EE's and buff brahma bantam mixes that came back from a school hatch yesterday. They are of the same size as the chicks we brought down to you last weekend if you are interested. The leghorns crosses should be good layers. You're welcome to come visit!

The bunny left the girls each a wind up slithering snake, bouncy yard ball, coloring book, socks, etc. Just some cute things that fit in a basket--the santa bunny doesn't stop here! My girls love books too!
