Rancher got me thinking with his comment on Brown Leghorns.....

Here's a random curiosity question for you guys and girls:

If you could just snap your fingers and have any new breed of chicken or duck today, (regardless of cost, practicality, disagreeable husbands and wives, etc...) what would it be?

I'm just dying to get my new girls, but if I could add another to the mix I've arranged, I suppose I'm pretty intrigued and impressed by Buckeyes.

I'd go with Buckeyes. I do like them for cold hardiness.

So I did a bad thing this morning. I went to TSC. I just needed to get threaded screw fence gate holder thingies and there were khaki Campbell ducklings on clearance for $2.50 each. There were 14. I bought them all. I have a friend that has a lot of ducks and he said that he would brood them and that he actually will buy the majority of them from me, I called him first to see if he wanted any. I will probably keep 6. They are so cute!!

I was kicking myself when I saw these guys in TSC. I bought 6 Pekings a week earlier. They are very cute.

I suppose I would go with some of country boys Cochins they are beautiful but my DH thinks I already have enough different breeds ( I only have 11 different ones I don't know what he is talking about ) Maybe next year

I went into the TSC in Glenmont today just to see what they had, and they had two different kinds of chicks but for the life of me I can't remember what they were. They are cute fuzzy butts though. I did end up getting a 10lb bag of chick starter/grower, my waterer and feeder
