Unfortunately I only get 2 a week....

So, a one footed rooster can breed a hen...who knew?

Pxis -- Where in upstate are you?  Are you near albany?

We do have some NY members in the fingerlake region.

I live more towards the Vermont border, but I'm willing to drive a ways to pick these girls up, I just don't ever have the time to do nine hours of driving in one day :(

Heartbroken...
I went to feed the chickens this morning and discovered a predator got in last night. I'm guessing a weasel. Feathers all over and necks broken. Nothing eaten. Killed 7 hens. 5 black australorps and 2 red sex links. I know it could have been much worse. I still have 29 left, 2 being roosters. No others are injured.
Spending the day cleaning, setting traps and reinforcing.
My heart just sank when I saw that this morning.

I am so sorry for your losses. I am glad it didn't get the whole flock, but it got enough. I hope you can find where it got in and make sure it doesn't do it again. As I understand it, weasels can get in a hole smaller than a child's fist, so block up every hole, no matter how small. Good luck trapping and kill the little weasel when you catch it.
