NY chicken lover!!!!

Hi, thank you for the welcomes.  I currently have 15, 7 week old chicks:  5 Buff Brahmas, 5 Jersey Giants, and 5 Red Sex Links.  They just moved into their newly rennovated coop last week and I'm in the process of making a fully fenced run for them.  Veggie, I'm located in Greenwich.

Welcome! I have all 3 of those breeds and I love them all! Have fun with them!

Seems we are getting a game cam today, but for a different kind of game. Trying to catch a thief. Our landscape business is next door to a house we own and rent to an employee. We have had a few things missing recently, and this morning we are missing a $200 set of aluminum ramps.
We WILL catch him, with pictures to show the police. Scumbag.

At least we will have a game cam we've been talking about getting!
I cant wait to hear what comes from this! People are so stupid, they obviously don't think before doing and are desperate for money, go get a job! Here they are stealing from people and have no idea what you are capable of! I hope you catch them!

That is great! We have a laser for our cats, wait till I tell the kids to test it out on the birds.

No pesticides please. Kills all the good bugs too, like honey bees

. More chickens and reduce tall grasses if you can. The ticks like to stay on those and wait for a meal.

Sorry, theft sucks. No nice way about it. Catch the low life buggers!

And it's sad to say he's our (almost) ex employee and (almost) ex renter. Can't say that I didn't warn dh. I specifically said, "I do NOT want him to come back to work for us" and "I do NOT want him living in our house". Do you guys ever listen to a word we say??? lol
a big flock of Sumatra's wiped out my tick haven. We were LOADED with tics and ground hornets. Tics are virtuallygone and I watch the Sumatra's sit over a ground hornet nest and eat all day long until none are left.

Do all chickens eat hornets? We typically have at least one nest of ground bees somewhere on our property once a year. And I'm allergic.

One of my fears was the cam being stolen so we hid it pretty high up in a tree and it's camo so it can't be seen easily.
Make sure you buy one that is infrared so there will be no flash.
Good to know! Thanks!
Hello all, I'm from the Saratoga area (Washington County).
Welcome!

There's a dead mink a few hundred feet down the road from us this morning, obviously hit by a car.

But that means they are on the prowl. Will be setting up the trap again tonight.

I have too many Pekin ducklings. I live near Whitney Point, and would like to find good homes for 2 - 4 of them.
If I hadn't placed an order with my local feed store already I would take some. Even though I'm not in a rush to get them, I'm a very impatient person. LOL When I want something I want it right then and there.

welcome.

Well I stopped by TS, home depot, walmart, a few other stores and a local feed store no luck on pallets going to try my work see if they sell them if not looks like I will be attacking home depot for boards to build my coop.\

Ah no road to your woods I would go out once a day just yelling like a banshee till no one bothered to come around any more during hunting season lol. A couple fog horns or a loud speaker should do also.

huh what was that sorry was thinking of chickens.

I would love some Sumatra. I would get some eggs from you but I don't have much luck with hatching and none of my hens have any interest in going broody

You are 3 hours away. It could be worth the drive for some chicks

I have no plans of incubating this year. My girls are going to do my hatching and I won't take their chicks away from them. So no chicks to sell. Eggs yes. If you get a broody let me know.

Welcome!
I have never personally witnessed any of my other breeds eating them. They may and I just haven't seen it. Sumatra's are different in many ways than "normal" chickens.
