NY chicken lover!!!!

Poor Pearl looks how I feel. However she's so thrilled to be outside!

Even the dogs had to come over to watch...

Tada! I now have a covered area! Just need to get the second half done (I need another bracket) and then get up the anti hawk/cat fencing over the open area and I'm set!

Anyone have any Cayuga ducklings or young say yearling? I have 1 girl a little over a year old... 1 more and a drake is all I'm looking for.

Now when you say "first frizzle" chick, CountryBoy, were both parents frizzles or did you breed two to GET the frizzle? What two breeds make up the frizzle chicken again?

Two get a frizzle one parent must be frizzle and the other must be smooth. If you breed 2 frizzles together you get chicks with problems. Sometimes they will be featherless. So if this is a rooster I will put him with a bunch of hens. There is a chance you get smooth feathered chicks when you breed frizzles and smooths together but if you take the chicks and breed it back to a frizzle you will almost get 100% frizzles.

Gotcha! So how did the first frizzles come about? What two breeds were bred?

Well Buckwheat hatched a chick. She's one of my frizzles. She hatched a chick some time ago, but this time took over the eggs of a Del hen. So I split the eggs between the two of them. Not sure how long the Del had been on the eggs. There hopefully will be some of Buckwheats eggs in there and perhaps some frizzles.

Ooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh this rain. I've too much to do.
