NY chicken lover!!!!

Tab I would appreciate that. My youngest wants a couple lavender orpingtons his friend has 2 hens and my son brought me home some eggs and said mom please hatch me some but I find out they have no Roos so not getting anything out of those eggs.
Rancher our lowes has it the same way which I like because it is easier to handle hubby has a truck so full sheets are nota problem to transport but I only get them if I need the full sheet or it is cheaper that way and even if it is cheaper and I don't need it full size lowes cuts it for you for free so I have them make it into the smaller pieces.
I would love to watch or help someone do it so if anyone local is willing to let me watch/help let me know

I've never seen it at Lowes. What I'm talking about is culled lumber. 51 cents a piece. They used to sell it $1.01 OR 51 cents. Now everything is 51 cents. It might be a little warped or split or have a blemish of some kind. Anyhow that's what I buy and use for my coops. If I need a full, two by, I do buy them, but if there is a cull piece I can use I buy that.

Ok thought you were talking about the cut pieces of plywood I usually don't go to Home Depot only because it is about an hour away but he next time I am at the dentist I will have to check

I always check the culled lumber section when I'm there or even if I drive by and have some time.

One time I scored 4' X 4 ' pieces of 1/2 and 3/4 in plywood. Plans to use it for a broody coop. Most of my nest boxes are from culled plywood.

All my raised beds are made with culled pine 2x 6's or bigger.

One of my friends brought his there as well. I may have to make a trip down in another month or so with my roosters. I just have to convince my dad...he wants to start a "rooster sanctuary"

every time he see's them he tells me how much he likes them.
My husband does as well. he is very sad on the morning of round up. I bring them but he does have to help catch them. They all go into the freezer and I wait about a month. By then he is ready to eat them!!

after they are processed is there any special prep? Like letting them sit in the fridge for a day or so? Then putting them in the freezer? How old are your rooster when they go? How many do you raise at a time?

My CR's are large and any roos I raise I expect to be good eating size.

Got another incubator that will be getting ready to go on lockdown in a couple of days can't wit to have some more little fluffy butts.

Bunny Hutch is finished now we just need some bunnies. It measures 8 ft. across 4 ft deep and 3 foot tall well that is how tall the inside is the total height with legs is 5ft it is built to be able to separate if need be and has 2 doors on the front. Just debating on what color I want to paint it the roof is a country blue color, again it is left overs from when they did the last building actually most of this was made with leftovers. Didn't get too far with Duck fence but will get that done tomorrow.

This weather has been crazy but at least it hasn't rained today was debating on whether I should have hubby build a bunny hutch or an Arc.
