NY chicken lover!!!!

Lynzi - Splash is part of the blue breeding. When breeding for Blue, you have chances of Blue, Black or Splash (BBS) The quad of Orpingtons from Annie (HappyHen) had a Black Roo, Black Hen, Blue Hen (Luna my broody) and Splash Roo. Tab and Trav kept the splash for a breeding project. My black boy Ron was a big, handsome and kind fellow. I gave him to someone, who then passed him on to another person that needed him for their black Orp flock.
ScratchCradle has a really good article on chicken genomes, which may be a good read for you if getting into breeding projects.

Rancher, it has been such strange weather this year. I planted two whole rows of beans, none came up! And one row of nasturtiums...nor kale and carrots, but I did see the girls grazing there...but not the beans or flowers..
My transplanted zucchini and yellow squash died shortly after transplant.

How the heck can you kill zucchini? Anyways, I replanted seeds and just picked my first zuke and yellow squash this weekend. For the first time ever, we dusted and fertilized the garden. Worry-free Sevin and the Miracle Grow Shake N Feed stuff. Hubby was tired of losing plants every year to bugs and having a poor crop. We don't do Organic, but do try to avoid chemical warfare. But rather have something to harvest and eat this year.

Maybe the rest of her body needs to catch up to her comb ?

Is there some kind of cone I can buy for a self mutilating chicken? Frenchie has started to pick at her chest and around the healing back. I ordered a saddle for er back but unsure what to do about her chest.
Me -is she still by herself ? as she may be bored / lonely

Are you going to share ?

Pxy - I hope your feeling better today

Lynzi - good luck with getting a roo!

Rancher - I've had some trouble with berries but it looks like my blackberries should be coming in soon but it's growing insanely large I wasn't prepared for that.

Sunny and Ke I love Jim as well I'll be there Wednesday for feed, and you might be right My Hatchery. I've gotten a few birds from him.

So I was removing the girls old coop and found baby rats or something I have no clue but it doesn't matter the girls are em all! Breakfast of champions. My son and I were stunned cuz they were cute but we were not going to intervene. Omg so gross. My son was afraid mama was going to come back and get us lol!

just a thought ...I dont let the chickens eat mice if I can help it ....they carry all kinds of Parasites ...I would watch your flock for signs of them afterwards

Thanks for the well wishes everyone! I'm feeling MUCH better today. I'm doing 'clean up the yard and chicken area' today, and I hope to get going on the hoop coop a little later. Plus, I picked up some guinea keets today! They're seven weeks old, and I have one buff dundotte, one pearl, and three royal purples. They were raised by a chicken hen so they'll get along with my chickens fine. Currently they're in quarantine, since they were with other chickens. I'm going to use them as flock watchdogs and tick control once they're coop trained and can free range.

I'm back! Safe and sound! Lol and Yes, Gramma, this is one of the Roos from that ad. Here he is....

Have you named him yet ? He is like 1/2 black & 1/2 blue ...LOL
Does any one want some Barred Rock roosters ? 2...of them I believe they are a little less than a year old ..
Not sure what their breeding is ..they were offered to me ...By a Gent down the road who has chickens ..
I have too many roos now ...LOL
