NY chicken lover!!!!

Speaking of roosters, I'm looking to rehome my Australorp roo (1 yr old). He has come after me a couple times, but it was when I was chasing hens. He could probably be worked with. My main issue with him is that he mates A LOT. I have 1 other roo that mates a small amount, and 51 girls. Many have bare backs and broken wing feathers. His hormones haven't calmed down at all. He is a VERY good alarm however and is ALWAYS at attention (that is when he's not mating). I won't be heartbroken if someone wants him only to process. If no one wants him he will go to auction on the 17th.
Any takers? Come get him.

Why are you chasing the hens. He most likely was doing his job and you shouldn't fault him for that.

My BR roo came at me as I was walking away and caught me by surprise. That was why we got into and he got knocked out. I am very calm around my birds.

I have some type of sinus thing knocked me on my butt. I couldn't even go for a run today. Something upset the dogs last and then it was gone. Ugh gotta go to work soon, ugh and I have a matted Newfoundland to groom. I hope my girls lay more eggs. I need to start providing my parents breakfast on the weekends.

Sinus problems haven't bothered me for a while. I think it's the allergy med and that I wipe down this key board and mouse with a baby wipe. DW and DD both work in offices and bring stuff home. Where I work we are admonished to wash our hands and I am mindful to do that.

I'm up to 2 layers! I got an egg this morning that was lighter and smaller than the others I've been getting. I'm 99% sure it was from BR. Their eggs were always a tiny bit smaller than my orps. Then I got another one from my Buff Orp. Thats 6 eggs in the incubator!

While I am seriously considering down sizing, cuz I have to many eggs and I'm getting tired, I do wish the BM's and Sussex would break. Also the EE in the Del coop. Two eggs from the BR coop with 9 hens in it. The BR's never were good layers and I hope to fix that in the future.

Anyhow I'm happy for you.

Oh and if anyone is going to an auction and want's to pick up some roos, they're yours for the taking.

That's me too, I've got a fridge full of eggs. Love my chickens, but I need to downsize. Just don't know who gets to go. :)

Have a sick chick (one of CB's most recent babies) that got squashed after I let them out in genpop. I'll probably need to put her down but I am no good at that when it comes to babies.. Ugh.

I feel your pain on that front. This weekend I need to assess the injuries on Vader and if they are not healing well I may have to do him in. He does not smell bad to me, but I have a heck of a time getting him so I can check him. Since Wookiee died Vader has been very aloof.

Newfs are a big job. We do sections at a time. Right side, left side ears, a couple of paws. She always has parts that look good, and others that need work. We would do better with a grooming table to keep us up off the floor. She does have me wound around her paw.

aqhachick--why are you shooting a rooster? You cant catch him?

Stony--be right over! Cant eat the dogs cause of the nitrates but I LOVE venison burgers!

Rancher--I hope your broodies break soon and you get eggs.

Another delightful day in pharmland and the reason why I like chickens more than people sometimes. Roger was trying to crow again when I came home. He is so funny. Got a message from my daughters demanding real food. Giuess I will be baking all weekend so I can bring down goodies to them. Nothing like moms loving home baking to feel better!
