Morning All,
I got someone interested in my magpies!!! Hopefully it doesn't fall thru. Ok so my humidity never got above 65% yesterday, I decided to remove the sponge and wet paper towels and leave the water dish in there to bring back down into the 50's. Was getting nervous about drowning. Also made a mistake and today isn't lockdown, tomorrow is. Thought hatch day was Tuesday but its Wednesday. Tues is baby bunny day! And two weeks after I'm getting an Angora rabbit! Can't wait! Candled the eggs after I figured out my schedule again and everyone is still kicking around in there. That was a relief! I'll turn them once more tonight and then lock 'em down!

Speaking of recipes. I'm looking for a recipe for canned green tomato pickles. My Mom used to slice the green tomatoes & piclkle them. Of course I never paid attention, canning was something I dreaded every summer. Now I wish I had paid attention.

the show goes something like this

hen comes out and sits on the roost bar.

Jerry. "lady hen you say this chick is roo a's and not roo b's is that correct"

hen. " cluck, cluck , cluck... brawk!!"

Jerry. "intrusting lets meet roo a and see what he has to say"

Roo A comes out strutting around, as Hen wiggles on the roost bar

As Roo A struts around never stoping Jerry says " Roo A you don't think this baby is yours because you haven't been with her for at least 2.5 weeks and it doesn't even have your comb."

Roo A "cluck cluck roororooooo" *scratches the floor

Jerry. "Well that changes things. After all there is another roo in the picture now, and he thinks the chick is his. He don't know about Roo A. What do you say crowd should we bring out Roo B. ??"

crowd cheers "JERRY!! JERRY!! JERRY!"

Roo B. comes out ripping a few feathers off his chest as he runs up on Roo A. Roo A. picks up a wood shaving and throws it at Roo B. as security comes out and chases the Roo's around falling on ground a few times.

Crowd cheers and laughs.

The stage settles down.

Lst year at the state fair they had a barn all about wool and demonstrations. Bet someone there could get you a contact

I have plans to check when I go. I always like to look at the sheepses. I did find some on line but want to be sure it's soft enough for my purpose.

I think that is my problem ..I drown them in humidity .
We are done trying for this year ...20 chickens is enough ...we will thin out some of the roos as they mature .
I am hoping to get 2-6 hens out of the 11 ones I got from Cass .

Jlaw I have buffs and they were gotten from East Coast Silkies, and Catdance Silkies they are not laying yet but I am sure by spring they will be

Rancher I know Carols Crafts in Rome Has Llama wool Yarn it is pretty expensive though but all of her yarn is and that is why I don’t usually buy it there.

I have seen it on Ebay for $34. There is another site that has it for much less. Many Llama yarns aren't 100%. Some have cotton or wool.

I will buy more costly yarn if the project is worth doing. The Red heart stuff is okay for afgans but not baby sweaters or hats.

Believe it or not there is some "yarn" made from Bamboo.

That's the last time dh gets to flock sit for me. I had somewhere to be all day yesterday so left dh in charge of feeding/watering and putting the flock to bed. I reminded him to check their feed around 5 or 6 because they usually need a refill by then.
This morning both feeders were (I swear) licked clean and the flock just about bowled me over getting to food. At least they still had water.
He forgot.

And confessed he didn't even count them last night.

Because I have young ones in three coops, I've been giving everyone 20% Dumor crumbles. Not wanting to waste it, I've been making a mush with water and it seems to go and there is less waste. Sometimes I add a packet of probiotics or electrolyte to the gallon milk jug I use to keep water near the coops. At night I toss the pan into the coop, since as a rule I don't keep food there. I don't want mice to get into it. They do seem to clean the plate pretty good though.

For anyone living around Rt. 31 and the Rogues Roost golf club, you have a late season fox with kits very active in the area. I saw mom and at least two, possibly three Kits tonight while working.

For anyone living around Rt. 31 and North Road, fearless fox. Not sure if Rabbid or just curious but actually walked towards my car when I stopped to try to photograph it. Large adult, possibly male.

(I deliver the Post Standard out that way and get a good look at the local wildlife at night)

Well you need to get your gun out and take care of them.

You must keep the females and the drake you want to breed separated. And NOT
range free. The group together need to stay together and the breed will remain pure.

Mixed breeding is NOT DONE with people who raise and show and master breeders want to keep the line pure.

Then they know who are the parents etc. Aria
