NY chicken lover!!!!

I just got this email. If anyone wants to adopt call quick. Thanks.

Okay this is definitely our strangest post. These evening our shelter manager was called by the police to a home in Yonkers. Upon arriving to the home our shelter manager found 5 dogs which are now in our custody. And 100 chickens a rooster and 2 ducks. In ll her years working in animal control she has never seen anything We have been given 48. Hrs to place the chickens and ducks or they will be slaughtered. If anyone knows anyone that can take these chickens nd ducks please contact us -at [email protected] or call 201 981 3215.
201 is a New Jersey area code. This smells funny. I know I'm not clicking on that link

Thats what someone on the CT thread said as well, but it is the right number - it's on the Petfinder website for that shelter. Could very possibly be a cell phone number. I live in NY and still have a CT cell number. I'll never give up my number - ever! LOL

what shelter in upstate NY has a NJ phone number? But still, best ofluck to them. If it is the real deal

I need a new project to work on. Haven't been outta a work a week and I'm already getting bored. I was thinking of building a larger run for the silkie coop. I'd attach it at the front door. This way they can get out a little more. I was going to use the round pen I was using for the ducks but it's just a "pen" and isn't covered. So the other chickens could easily fly up and into it. I have wood, chicken wire, and hardware mesh. I might as well. Wouldn't have to go out and buy supplies. It's just been so hot here! Maybe once the fall weather comes I'll be in the mood to do it.

I didn't think it was in Upstate, thought it was Yonkers...here's their web address thru Petfinder

It's just the one lady out of 4 who run it, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's a cell and she lives in NJ and commutes to Yonkers every day. Not surprising. Would be like people who lived in Danbury, CT commuting to NYC every day - I've known a few people who did it for years. Me? Never! LOL

Everyone-- Yonkers hens have all been taken by a shelter in upstate NY. Yay!

10 roosters still need homes; the 48 hours has been extended, but don't know for how long.

so safe, but still need a home.

see what I mean? Says they are upstate or maybe not the roosters, just the hens. To much info not there.

. But upstate to some is Westchester county. I don't know, the whole thing is weird. It's probably just me but I don't trust it.

Ohhhhh I see what you're saying. But I think because the home was in Yonkers, the Yonkers shelter initiated the rescue and now they're in the hands of this "Upstate Shelter"...at least thats how I'm reading it? You would think that they would now give you the name and number of this Upstate Shelter in case anyone wants to still adopt them. Sounds like Yonkers would have had to put them down?? IDK, That's the way I'm reading it.

Oh yay bring 'em up north. Like we need more chickens. Though I suppose to them "upstate" is Binghamton. A shelter huh? Is there money to shelter 100 chickens? Though I suppose they'll want to charge someone to take them.

Excuse me for thinking out loud.

Maybe the shelter has a soup kitchen.
