NY chicken lover!!!!

Anybody interested in some buff orps or easter eggers? They're roughly ten weeks old now, and mother hen has just finished with them. One EE is definitely a roo, and he's a gorgeous little thing. I can't tell with the buff orps. One looks pretty roostery, but they all seem to have pretty red combs for their age, although I've seen no hackle/saddle feathers and no giant legs and feet, so who knows. One EE is a pullet. I also have a jersey giant I need a home for. She's three months old and supposedly a pullet according to the hatchery, but she's got an awful red comb and wattles. If anybody wants the roosters for eating, you may have at it. I don't have the heart to do that kind of thing, but if you want some delicious chicken, you're welcome to them.

Seems like it's fall clean out time for everyone. I'm hoping that my neighbors brother in law take some of my girls. I just have too many.

Nothing like coming home after working 11hrs to find this

What "girls" are you referring to that you are hoping to downsize?

That's terrible! I never new you had lavender cochins though. May I ask where you got them?

They're just Ideal chicks but they're very decent looking. The girl I lost today had the best leg feathering of the 2 so I'm hoping mating the roolet back to her will bring back the feathering.
Yes Lynzi everyone gets locked down until the weekend when I can net the entire run. That should be fun ;-)

Just stinks you have to do that... You have a very nice set up. :-(

Thank you. That run is probably close to 1500 square feet so it not going to be easy. It's something that should have been done after I lost a runner baby to an owl. I knew something was up when everyone was under the knot weed and hanging out in the coop. The ducks are still looking up at the trees every now and then. I'm sure Duncan was going nuts too.

I've been keeping a closer eye on my flock as of late after seeing that hawk go after Stella last weekend. However my birds free range all day from the minute I'm up until dusk-whether I'm home or not. I can't put all this time into trying to lock them every time I go out to the store or up the road. I just have to hope nothing happens to them. :-/
