NY chicken lover!!!!

I'm making a quilt out of it, and I was going to have some extra, so I tossed it in my light box. After all, the only thing cuter than chicks is chicks with purple and white polka dots

My DM used to make aprons and pot holders that we had to go door to door to sell in fabric like that. Also in checks. Lavender was her favorite color though she did make other patterns. She ordered fabric through Bellas Hess or some catalog like that. I often look for one at the flea markets and local antique stores. I figure I ought to recognize her work since I sold them. I

I just did a google and apparently they're still in business.

They're salmon faverolles. The very beginnings of my breeding flock

They are soo cute! I love my salmon faverolle I got this year. She is a real character but does get picked on by the rest of the flock(she was the one sold to me as a roo, then laid me an egg!)
If I ever focus on one breed they would be it, although it would be tough to give up the colored eggs from my EE's.
Sorry it's so blurry, no one would stop moving!

It's slow progress but my run is almost done!!! If I ever get home before it gets dark I might just get it finished this week!

Country Boy does have beautiful birds. I can tell he puts a lot of effort into his flock.

Pyxis - I Like the faverolles its just mine didnt puff out super sad face she just looks awkward. I cant wait to see how your babies look.

Sunny - your girl is pretty, love that story she was a roo till she laid an egg lol

That's funny! She's a pretty girl and I bet she's super sweet.

I like them too, so much so that I have a late hatcher in my shirt right now until she's a little stronger and can go in with the others. Where'd you get your faverolles?

Hope everyone is enjoying their Thursday! Wanted to jump on and ask if anyone in the Syracuse and surrounding areas is going pumpkin picking, has a pumpkin patch of their own, or one close by, and wants to save some tall stems for me is really appreciate it. A friend I grew up with in CT is making crafty pumpkins out of velvet fabric and is using real stems on them. I went to a patch down the road frome today and was able to find a few on some broken/moldy pumpkins that were still good, but I didn't find many. A lot of them were too short too. But if anyone happens to come across some or knows other pumpkins patches where I could look for her, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!!!

Pyxis,

your chicks are so sweet. They look like the quintessential Easter basket chick, little puffs of buttery down. Best of luck with your new start on a breeding flock. Also, hope your late hatcher starts to gain strength quickly.

More on County Boy -

his birds aren't just beautiful, they're exceptional. County Boy, maybe you should look into a career in animal husbandry, etc. Cornell is relatively close!

Lynzi, have you tried the one in Navarino? Rt 20 to the blinking light, turn rt there? I got some pumpkins there that had massive stems, who knows what is in the fields.

I just went to OCRRA for mulch and compost in my sons truck that I borrowed. It took 2 hrs to get 4 garbage cans full of mulch and some other big containers of compost into the truck. It is taking much longer to get them out. Grrrrrr. There is, of course work to be done before the mulch can be applied.
