NY chicken lover!!!!

Woke up this morning to my Silkie roo crowing! Oh wait, but let me just say that by "this morning" I don't mean 6am or 5am, No, he was crowing at 2:19 in the morning!!! Which then of course prompted Gru to start crowing! What on earth would prompt them to do this!?! If this is going to be a nightly ritual he will most definitely get the boot!
very bright moon last night. It happens sometimes. Nothing to worry about

Thats what I was thinking, I did get up and saw what looked like early morning light out my window, but when I checked the time on my phone I was shocked to see it was only 2:19! I just wish his crowing hadn't set Gru off, he is sooooo loud! At the silky still sounds like a squeak toy! LOL

Well leggy my leghorn thought she was funny. I checked for eggs earlier and she and a red was in 2 nest boxes. So I go out again and she's in there still. I rake the bedding under roosts some and keep eye balling her. She isn't moving not blinking don't look like she is breathing so I poke my head a little closer and she just goes off. Scared the **** out of me. That girl was already done laying she was just sitting on the egg. I wasn't too happy lol.

Something my have startled them ...maybe a Predator walking by !
I sometimes go out past the coop at night . After midnight ..When I had 7 Roos I went past the coop & forgot to announce " its just me ." ..they all started crowing ..talk about LOUD ! It took a while for them to quiet down ..

I guess I could meet at the fair grounds Sunday morning ..
Maybe 10 -

We would have to make some kind of way to identify each other .
Maybe meet at a certain place ( the ox Roast stand ? , or wear a name tag with our screen names or
Wear a feather in our hair ..I did that at the state fair & Miquid found me ...in a crowd of hundreds ...

I doubt it was a predator cuz this was the same laid back crow they do in the morning, didn't sound so "panicky" like I have heard him make before. I'm thinking more Stony's idea of the bright moon because I swear I thought it was 6am when I heard it, thats how light it was in there! I was glad to check my phone and realize I still have 4 hours of sleep left!

I'll let you guys know if I end up doing the fair...Still waiting to see if my friend wants to come with me. I'd really like to go kid-free too, I need a break from these monsters, more like a vacation! LOL

I went up to the coop this am and saw feathers EVERYWHERE. My first thought was oh no, something got in the coop, but there were no holes in the fencing, the doors were closed, everything was good. I do a head count, one of my EE's comes out and looks like she exploded all her feathers! No wonder I hadn't seen an egg from her in 10 days, poor girl is going through her molt!
