NY chicken lover!!!!

Well I just managed to drag two shipping crates (one is my brooder and the other was the original "run" to the duck house I made) to the shed and got them stacked on one another. Should still have more than enough room for the mower to get in there. I'm thinking of keeping my silkies/frizzles in pairs in these crates over the winter rather than outside. Another reason for doing this is because I want to separate the two lavenders anyway and make sure my lavender's eggs are fertile from just the lavender roo and not the splash roo. Also, if I do hatch eggs thru winter I have the heat lamp in the shed now with the brooder and I can just run an extension from my side porch to the shed. I have one more crate to move to the shed but I want to get the mower in there first and that won't be for a couple more weeks. I also thought of the idea of moving my brooder box to the front porch and keeping in the left hand corner since thats the corner thats sort of blinded from the street. No one would even be able to see it there. And there is a plug right there on the porch so no extension would be needed. So I have some options in case I try another hatch soon.

The wedding was up on the northern border, Montvale, Tappan and one other little town there that I forget. Very affluent area, very pretty. The cocktail time was wonderful with great food stations of carved flank steak and lamb, a mashed potato bar with wonderful toppings, a seafood bar with about four or five seafood choices, a pasta bar where the chef was concocting the sauces before your eyes, and elaborate stations with killer cheeses olives, crudités and crackers...and then awesome dinner, but the dj was so loud that conversation was impossible, so we went outside, then wedding cake six tiers, pastries and bananas foster or cherries jubilee. In the morning we had breakfast at a nice diner, my favorite thing in NJ, and a stop at my cousin's in Hackettstown, more down home. Glad to get home, I enjoyed, all except for being robbed of speech and ears feeling assaulted, but that's enough of polite society for a while.

TOB I lived in NJ for a minute it was alright. My son was born there and his father is laid to rest there, so for those reasons i have a soft spot for NJ. My stepson was in NJ but now in PA gonna have a baby in March.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your mother.

Lynzi Well at least he didnt crow. And I believe someone did mention that word. But hopefully i can move the silkies tonight and find a brave soul to help move my coop, so they can be out the rabbit hutch and in a super large coop even though they are bantams im unsure if my brabanter will like snow.

Glass glad you at least had a good time. Its always great to be home. Especially now that i own my house there is no place like home.

Well recently my brother n his girlfriend had a baby boy. My niece just had a baby girl on friday and my stepson's girl friend is due in march. Geesh ive been an aunt sincei was a teenager but almost 32 and hittin grand status lol.

Well my ten year old got mildly attacked by our roo for picking up a hen. I told him absolutely no tears and just stand yourground, and everything is fine with him and the roo now. Thats good in my opinion im not always home and people like to jump my 6" privacy fence and I want my girls protected. Got to get a sign "Beware of Rooster". I told people if my property continues to get crossed my dogs will be left out side.

The boys did good on our run today i took a week off to let my hip heal. It aint perfect butfar more managable.

So last night i was walking the all three dogs that we walk twice a day. Well some neighbor was putting our her garbage looked at me and said i dont no trouble. Not sure what my son, my dogs, an i did to give the impression of trouble as we queitly walked by. My pit ignored her and my yorkie n schnauzer mix wagged thier tails. But i guess that is all it takes. Lol

Well hope all is well!

Funny you mention that about NJ, that's how I feel about CT, not so much when I'm heading there, but by the second full day I'm there I'm itching to leave. I think that's why no matter how late I stay up on Saturday nights there, I can still still wake up at the crack of dawn on Sunday to get ready and head home!

Hope everything goes smoothly with your mother today!

You know just what I mean, then! My mother is home resting. She did pretty well. Thanks.

I haven't met an Italian lady that wasn't feisty :) good luck.

Looks like I'm out of work until Wed. sinus infection and the flu. If it wasn't for working in sawdust all day I'd still be working :-(

Thanks, ke5hde! She's a tough old bird, just like me.

I hope you can kick the bug SOON.

Lord have mercy, amen

Thank you, Rancher. She's doing OK.

Northern NJ is my favorite part of the state. It is pretty. Much of NJ is just over-developed. Hackettstown is still somewhat quaint. My husband's grandparents lived there for many years. I liked to visit them, as back in the day, that meant "the country" to me. Glad you had a nice trip, Glasshen.

Thx for well wishes for my mom. She said it hurt a little more this time, but is doing OK...home now. I'm bringing her a ham dinner tonight.

I had a great childhood growing up in New Jersey. I wouldn't trade my kid years for anything. But even then, I always knew I would be moving on to where I could live the country life -- and be a little closer to my "happy place" : Canada!!

Your 10 year old is a brave fella. I'm glad he and the roo have a truce now. That stinks that people don't respect your property boundaries. Grrrrr to that! That's a strange encounter with your neighbor. Pretty odd. Some people just see pit-bulls and automatically assume they're killers and their owners are criminals. Sheesh.

Glad mom is doing okay, I understand what your saying about country life I'm one of those I love both city life and country life LOL. Canada is definitely a cool place.

I live in my own little world, but it's okay they know me here.

That is always a good thing, hope they treat you well there too.

I just HAVE to share this. Someone just asked this question. Asked on FB, but not on my page. You just can not make this stuff up.
" Is it difficult to remove the hair after you remove the feathers? Or once you remove the feathers is it just the skin? Im envisioning a layer or hair that has to be peled away like with a cow you have to get all the hair off."

seriously? Someone out in America thinks chickens have a layer of hair, like on a cow UNDER the feathers?
