NY chicken lover!!!!

I just looked those up, the cream ones...not totally in the love with them but I may have to sacrifice if I really want a blue egg. I think it would be best for me to find a blue egg layer since I already have the light brown egg layers. This way I can eventually get the pale blue to green colored egg layers.

I wanted one as well but it was so hard to find one at the time I gave up and now everyone has some but I think I want legbar because of the floppy combs and colors. I have 7 white hens already LOL so I'm looking for more color. Funny I wanted to add white colored eggs to my collection and one of the leghorns turned out to be something else. Just when your looking for something it's a pain to find. But Jlaws girls are looking good.

I always thought this was how they were made...

That is awesome!!!

So I figured out who my two new layers are the real leghorn and my faverolle. My Jersery Giant and Orpington probably won't lay till spring they are taking forever to mature My wellie should be laying soon. And it's whenever for the brabanter. My unknown is looking like about 1-2 months away from laying. It's funny because the faverolle laid a tiny egg and the leghorn laid an agg almost twice it's size and of course the faverolle is bigger than the leghorn LOL.

JLaw... I have tried baking the eggs that way. It cooks them well, but I didn't put them into cold water, I let them cool on the counter. I think that I'm going to try it again soon and I'll put them in the water right after they came out. I used eggs that were about a week old and they didn't peel that well, but better then they did the last time that I boiled them. I've got a dozen in the back of the fridge so I can bake them too.

Thats one of the things I both love and worry about with my girls. They lay often and they lay large but they are not very big birds compared to say my sex links. My EEs have broader chests than the leghorn girls too but the leghorn girls lay probably 5-6 days a week an XL size egg.

Morning all! So out of 19 laying hens I got six eggs yesterday. Not good when you have lots of egg customers! I hope they move out of this molt soon. They have been enjoying the old venison from the freezer. Dh has been cooking it up for them. Have to make room for this years take. I'm planning on canning some of that as well.

Love the cartoon sunny!

Everyone have a good day!

Brealla do your EE stop laying for a few months in the fall? Edie had just started laying this summer and laid daily for about 2 months and then stopped. She has not laid since. She is going thru a minor molt but nothing like my other girls

We've been getting between 12 and 20 eggs a day from 50 hens. Slackers!

My parents had 3-4 inches of snow this morning. I'll see how much is left later today after services in Boonville. The ground is still wet so I expect it will all melt for now.

OK ya'll with egg problems stop talking about it cause now my girls are slacking. Here I was happy I was getting about an egg a day from all of them till a few days ago. Only 7 layers and getting like 4 eggs a day. Of course now I start getting people wanting to buy eggs. I couldn't give them away when I had 9 eggs a day. Think I may have to hit up craigs list for some hens or something. I don't think these others will start laying till spring.

We do have a new layer my wifes black jap bant is laying small eggs so funny seeing the small bird in the nest box. I love watching this bird walk around the yard. It's so small but has a huge tail sticking like straight up in the air with these tiny little legs. I'll have to get a pic of her.
