NY chicken lover!!!!

Quote: The muck boots have great reviews and are suppose to be good from sub zero to 85 degrees. I did some research before getting them & tried a pair on at TSC to make sure I got the right size. I dont mind paying more for a good boot thats going to last a long time. They do come in different heights. I am short so these come up to almost my knee lol

Thanks Gramma Chick! I am super excited to finally have someone laying around here! Must have been that fermented feed I gave them a taste of yesterday

For those looking for boots, I ended up ordering Sorels from Nordstrom online. They are the best boots I've ever had. Waterproof, warm, comfortable. Their a little pricey but if you're looking for a well made multi-purpose boot these are definitely well worth the money spent!

Ok, I moved the water outside and started putting some old feed bags up was wind breaks. I wanted to get more done but I couldn't.
I ran out of hay & dont have any feed bags so I have been using board insulation in a plastic bag as wind blocks for the coop. Hopefully the plastic bag stops it from detiorating this winter

chicken TV is Great ! You tried to help ... So Sorry ! I HATE HAWKS ! Does she get along with everyone else in the coop..Okay ? Id leave her if she has problems with them I would then move her .. FF is pretty easy ..like MARQ says dont fret it ..have a question ? Just Ask ...
Hawks are terrible the worst part was I was outside most if the day and didn't hear a thing...none of the roosters or hens made a peep. They were acting a little funny and then I couldn't find her. She does get along with everyone in the coop I just worry because she's the only bantam and tends to get excluded.

I have bags saved up to make shopping bags but I doubt that will happen. Still I save some just in case.

My plan is take the tarps off in the spring and put fleece underneath. I also use fleece on the fronts of the coops. I just buy the cheap stuff at the fabric store. I figure it breaths so won't hold the humidity and is a good wind break.

Value Mart sometimes has the small tarps for $2. I buy those for the back of one of my runs and to cover benches and stuff for the winter.

You can see the front of this coop is not completely covered but they were fine all winter.

I used a piece of fleece over the roost to hold the heat down where the birds are. They didn't mind it being there.
