On the one hand I agree with you and on the other not so much.

I worked for the Crossings in Minoa and quit after three days. I'm still struggling with it, since some of my reasons for quitting bothers my conscience. Part of me wishes I had not been so hasty.

My next job was for the Hearth on James. Expensive but the staff was nice, the place was clean. I liked the manager and pretty much everyone.

Many of the people who work in these places are high school educated at the most. At the Crossings they were in high school.

The one things these two places have in common is low wages. You will not get professional help for $8 hr. Though I will say some folks really do care no matter what the pay.

Keep in mind that the elderly can be demanding and in some case unreasonable. What I liked about the Hearth is that they had monthly meetings for everyone, whether or not the came in direct contact with the residents.

Sometimes a stranger will treat you better than family. Strangers don't know your faults.

actually the rude behavior and such led me to block my 1st BYC member.

. Yes I know exactly what you are talking about.

I did this once but unblocked them. I was missing some of the helpful things they had to say. It can be hard to get a bent on whether someone is being short with us or just doesn't know how to convey what they want to say. So I give them the benefit of the doubt and move on.

That person who lets the door close, may have other things on their mind. Perhaps they're having a Jonah day. Jonah days come to us all.

In this day and age of "tolerance" I felt bad that I only wanted others to be tolerant of me but wasn't willing to be so.

Walk a Mile in my Shoes - Joe South great song.

I reckon there are days when even you need a hug,

I had a little Christmas miracle. When I went out to close up the coop for the night and catch Craig (my last duck) I couldn't find him...Well guess where he was..already in the chicken coop in the crate that I put in there for him all nice and tucked in the straw for the night. :clap I was sooooo happy!!!

Does anyone have a duck(s) that they would like to rehome or sell? :fl I'm going to start to look for a friend for Craig. I think he would like it to have another duck friend. (dh hasn't said no when i brought it up).

Sorry about that.
My mother has two large mixed ducks she will probably part w. She is in Kirkville.
The school hatched some mixed breeds we got from friends and some of moms call ducks. When she gave the ducklings back to her friend she messed some up and has the 2 big ones still

Luvmychicks1491 I have extra drakes. If you wanted one you would be saving it's life. Let me know if interested. Khaki's, fawn and white runners and a few mutts.

Sooo I'll consider myself really lucky if this lone egg DOES hatch. I don't know what I was thinking (well obviously I wasn't with all the excitement of family being here for Christmas) but when I went to candle yesterday before lockdown I placed the egg right side up instead of air cell side up. Woke up last night in the middle of the night to get some water and something made me think of it so I went upstairs, opened the bator and turned it upside down. I hope that doesn't mess with the whole 3 days of lockdown.

So we'll see if I have any pips in the egg by tomorrow.

Should be fine. Broodys don't put them in lockdown in the real world.
Good luck fingers crossed

Hello all, I am in Cortland, NY. Does anyone have turkey or chicken hatching eggs for sale? I don't have great luck with shipped eggs.
I'm not sure who asked but Cortland is about 33 miles south of Syracuse via Rte 81

Hello, my name is Sheila and I am a chicken addict.......haha.
Hi Sheila.. Welcome you'll find it's very helpful here. I know that I like it alot. I'm Samantha and I live in DeRuyter. I only have some mutt eggs, but I'm sure that if you let everyone know what you are looking for they usually can help you out or point you in the right direction.

Sorry about that.

What do they look like and how big are they? They would be living with the chickens?

Thanks Stony. I'm not sure if I'm ready to drive that far. (you live over by the Albany area right?) Perhaps in the spring. Unless you are making a trip over this was sometime (towards Syracuse)

30 miles south east of Albany, 5 miles from the Mass border. I don't see a trip 1/2 way across the state in my near future.
