Oh my goodness! Hang in there. I have a large pond and thought about getting ducks.

Trouble is many breeds die out because folks don't keep enough of any one breed. An attack on my Dels and I'd be wiped out. Same with my Birchens and CR's. This is why the ALBC can't count small flock keepers. There are a couple flocks. Trust me, finding one was NOT easy. I fell in love with the breed and had to have them. Tonie Marie had a flock, but she doesn't any longer. Greenfire wants $5000 a pair and hatching eggs go for over $1000 a dozen on eBay, so they're not easy to get your hands on. So glad I found the man who sold me mine. He is local to upstate NY. Don't want to say too much though because he recently had a problem with theft.
Hi again NY chicken folks! Stopping back in to say we went and got our 6 babies from Nature Berry Farm in Macedon, and they are doing fantastic. this is really fun (1st chickens we have had) and easier than I thought. Nature Berry is very cool, and Jim and Sandy are very nice and helpful. We had a fun day. Took one hour each way, and the chicks were fine with the included heat packs. I wish we could go get more!
We chose these gals...
Buff Orphington
Silver Lace Wyandotte
Buff Wyandotte
Golden Laced Wyandotte
Black Australope
Partridge Wyandotte.
I am not sure of their exact age, but they went on sale on the 11th I believe, so maybe a week or so?
The Ducks survived til morning. And I slept well. I cannot keep worrying about these darn ducks. I love them, they are soooo funny and cute....but they are gonna give me a heart attack if I don't just let them be. Maybe if I get Runner ducks? They don't swim do they?
