NY chicken lover!!!!

Waiting for this next rain storm. Everything was updated to severe. Everything's closed up tight. Last night I got soaked through my rain coat. I just knew that after this winter that we'd be in for a stormy summer. Dogs are even ready, very agitated.

That was a hum-dinger but not as bad as I had feared. So ticked off, though, because most of the sticks were all picked up on my lawn this week, grass just cut yesterday....and it looked so nice. Not so much so now!!! But as folks are saying, there are other people who really have something to complain and cry about.

Thankfully someone up above was watching out for the hubby tonight as a young girl going to fast lost control of her car hit him head on and then bounced off of him and put her car in a ditch and the worst part was he drove his corvette so it was really damaged but thankfully no one was seriously injured hubby is sore but will see how he feels in the morning and the girl ended up with a busted lip. Her mother was upset about her insurance and the fact that they are going to have to pay to repair a corvette and my reply is well be glad she didn't get hurt and maybe next time she gets behind the wheel she will drive the speed limit.
I told him he was so lucky he wasn't driving my corvette or I might have had to of hurt him LOL!

That sounds like a bad accident, but thank God no one was seriously hurt. Young people on the road = high risk. My son has his permit and I'm terrified for when he gets his license. I know it's a right of passage most of us go through, but statistics don't lie. Hope your hubby heals up and feels better soon, Nutty.

Hope today was better. This whole week, so far, has been a zoo for me. I can relate to your mood yesterday -- I was like that this morning!

GRAMMA - Loved your Ducky's 1st Day Out video! Those young chicks were sure interested and curious!!! Very cute!

Today's Highlights from TOB's Coop:

Got it cleaned, dusted with DE and fresh shavings laid. Cleaned cobwebs and an impressive layer of dust and silt from the window sills, etc. Freshened both pens and tomorrow I'll give all the waterers and feeders a good scrub. While trying to attack a broody poop splattered and dried on the back coop wall that had to be half as high as me, I managed to get pasty-dried chicken poop under a few finger nails. Nasty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And while moving my newest stubborn broody, "Molly", I also got pooped on, a drippy white one, which hasn't happened since the ladies were small pullets. Feeling much more civilized after a nice, cool shower.

Love my birds, but man are they ever gross.

Well I managed to rehome 2 little chicks today, a silkie chick from the May 17th hatch and one of the LF cochins. I decided to only keep the one Blue Frizzled cochin so I wouldn't be tempted to hatch eggs from them. The white one went to my friend, and smooth went a new home today and that left me with the blue. If it's a roo I'll house him with the Orp hens when Gru finds his new home. I don't plan on hatching any more from my Orps now that I have 4 splash to grow out. Decided to rehome my silkie chick since it was split to lavender, I don't want any funky colors popping up when I hatch eggs from these blues and splash. Especially if I'm going to try to hatch more sizzles. Still have a few more to downsize to, Gru, a blue silkie/polish chick, and I'm going to let go of pair of Orp chicks if anyone is interested....

Some cuteness for the day. 3 day olds out with both Moms.

Rancher if you can et the name of the chemo you can look it up online. That's what undid for my dad when they gave him new chemo drugs
They gave us detailed print outs of each of the drugs. Maybe, if you asked. Are you comfortable with your dr? I did NOT like Mom's at all. I didn't think he knew crap. Turns out he knew more than I thought.

Here are my 6 new babies!

One I'm not getting the updates and it's ticking me off.

B. If these broodies don't hatch something I'm pulling all eggs. Far to many sitting for not one single chick. I don't need them of course but if they're not going to lay the can at least hatch out a couple of chicks. Some have a bunch of eggs under them.

Nutty - I will talk to DD about bringing the ducks and making the trade. Or perhaps my sister. She needs to get out. I do need to get some boxes though. DD will stay with DW while I'm away.

SAH - when you coming this way again?

This is going to sound crazy but I have a broody golden comet! She has been sitting on wooden eggs since yesterday. I never thought a comet would go broody, crazy! I think I will give her a few eggs tomorrow. My silkie hens eggs should hatch this weekend, also I have some eggs in the bator due this weekend. I had to count chicks today for the NPIP. I have 86! That's counting guineas and turkeys, lol. The inspector wanted to buy some keets but we don't have extra. Lol.

Not crazy! The hen in my avatar with chicks is a red sex link. She was an excellent mother, although I don't expect her to ever repeat her broodiness.

So I found out what has been killing my chickens and stealing my eggs. As I had suspected, it was a raven. I know this because during the huge thunderstorm we had last night, the coop I was brooding my chicks in was damaged. The raven took advantage of this and broke in and stole and ate every single baby. Not one was left. All were gone without a trace with the exception of one duckling that got stuck in the chickenwire trying to get away. This one the raven just ate the head off of, just like it did to my broody cochin. I know it was the raven because when I went out to care for everybody this morning I caught it in the ate of trying to slip back in and see if there was anything left for it. So now the question is, how do I get rid of the raven? Shall I just borrow a bb gun and shoot the stupid thing? It's around every day around one pm so it wouldn't be hard to get.
