Do any of you order shipped chicks? Any idea when it is safe? Month wise?

I ordered some to ship the first week of Nov. they shipped the third week and half were DOA?

Any local sellers of hatching eggs or chicks? I want to build a small hobby farm up here....

A lot of us in here breed one thing or another, is there anything in particular you're looking for? I have silkies, buff orpingtons, crested cream legbars, naked necks, naked neck bantams, easter eggers, welsh harlequin ducks, and ayam cemanis (the latter not much good for farming at this point, though - too expensive).

I ordered and got 25 on Feb. 22 in '08. All alive and well. I started them with sugar water right away. Two got a little woozy after a few days but I gave them food and water in a dark box by themselves so they could rest. Chicks get stressed and like all babies sleep a lot.

I'm just on the other side of Caz in DeRuyter. I was in Fenner on Friday visiting Troyers!

What do you have so far and what are you looking for. The peeps on her have almost any kind that you can think of!

@Luv thanks. Troyers is right up the road from me. I go there all the time for their cold cuts, bacon and soup mix...and still eggs until mine start giving me my own!

I have silkies, EE, and a rhodebar roo right now. About 20...

Orpingtons, silkies, Belgian Quail D'Anver, Speckled hamburgs (All air cells detatched) and Creme Crested Legbars & barnyard mix in the incubator.

I am interested in speckled hamburgs, blue egg layers and some others that would compliment the birds I have going. I love Swedish Flower hens and Black swedish Flower hens, Svart Hona and Polish.

Luv...What do you raise?

We love Troyers. We buy all of our lunch meat and cheeses there. They have the best prices. Love their fresh baked good and the kids love the cheese curds.

I have a little bit of everything. I have some Red sexlinks , silkies, sizzles, frizzles, Blue marans, a Black copper maran, barred rocks, silver laced cochin, a D'uccle, and mixed breed girls. I haven't decided if I want to go with one breed so for now I like to have a mix. I also have started to raise/breed Magpie Ducks and love them!

Do you have hatching eggs that you sell ? I had purchased D'Uccle eggs in the fall...all air cells were detached....no one hatched.

I used to buy the Troyer cookies...then I was diagnosed with Celiacs...game over!

Was a clip with the birds enjoying some yummy treat (yogurt and FF?) out of plastic bowls and they were eating with gusto and making little happy sounds as you moved the camera around...
