Yes, Rancher, I am certainly surviving. There is a certain humor in being delt such a perplexing problem just out of sleep and the coffee pot won't work! I guess I have a dark sense of humor. Have not had to think of septic tanks before, Not sure I'll remember any better in ten years. Sorry about the damage you have, thaw at was no fault of yours, just the luck of the draw.

So my first shipment of hatching eggs is a disaster with only one developing, and it has a wonky air cell. The good news... Spring chicks from Idaho all made it safe and sound

Won't have my kids, but I may need to do some last minute shopping how about sometime between 10 and 11, as I still might need to do some cleaning before work, you guys pick the place

Figured it was a long shot but doesn't hurt to ask lol, wish me pullet luck my friend that has the goats and has been helping me with mine has had 5 does and 0 bucks so far maybe it is the year of the pullet lol

Would later work for you guys, like maybe sometime after one? Lol, I'm going out with my coworkers tonight and I don't see being up by nine to get myself to Rutland by ten .

Trish, how did you want to do Colo? Will you be bringing him and his hens or shall I come to your place afterwards and do it there? I'm not sure how well doing such a thing would go over in a public place lol but I'm sure we could get away with it in the Tractor Supply parking lot.

In other news, I think at least one of my sebbie eggs has life. I always wait until ten days to be sure because it's happened to me before that a goose egg has looked completely lifeless and then suddenly on day ten there's an embryo, so I won't give up on the other two just yet.

Hi guys. I'm Peggy and I live about 20 miles south of Ithaca, NY. Right now I'm down sizing my girls for the winter, but usually have about 25 to 35 chickens. Fell in love with Blue Cochins, they seem to handle our weather very well. I have a variety of different chickens, BR, Cochins, Royalle Faverole,EE, NHR, white Giant, Wyandotte, Shaver Red, Buff Orp., Austrolorp,Speckled sussex, that's it for now but am always adding more!!!!!

The latest I could do is like 11 I think because I can't go directly to work after, I need to grab the kids and drop them at Burls moms house

Holy Moly - that's right - she HAS to keep that bater all cranked up !

Millies are still not laying - but that is not unusual - they held off until the weather eased up and then laid every day through to fall ... so I'm not worried yet - feeding them nice layer plus a few treats ....

Excellent!! - I have another question too - how big do the nesting boxes need to be? My large girls have 12" x 12", can I plan on 1/2 that size??

Yep - you can plan on smaller - but you can also just use the big - when miss millie when broody - she did it in the main big box - everyone's favorite box - of course.

and on funny/good news front - Mr. millie was chasing one of the hens around who was not yet interested - but he is! So that means they must be feeling the warmer weather ! We still have 4-5 weeks to get the eggs going in the incubator before Chickenstock !
