I got two from someone around the Ithaca area but I'm not sure where you are located. I got them about a month ago. One turned out to be a roo...love him but I think it would cause a noise problem. I paid $12.
We are getting our pullets from Groton. We are located in Oswego Co. believe it or not but my husbands family lives in the Cortland area so we get up there once in a while. My parents live in Cayuga Co. so we go there as well. lol We can't have a rooster or I would take one in a minute. So sad!

Happy Anniversary Rancher! May you find more joy, peace and happiness in the years to come.

I hope everyone is well.

One more question. Is there anywhere that sells cheaper hardware wire then others? I just want to figure out if we can save some money buy buying it somewhere other than home depot or lowe's. Any suggestions or doesn't it really matter because they'll be priced the same? Just thought I'd ask.

Well the end of September early October will busy for us. We have some foster kids coming for a bit and the chickens will be new as well. Talking about baptizing with fire here. When I do something, I do it full force. Hahahaha

Have a great weekend ladies!

Hi there. i buy my hardware cloth from Walmart.com I think it's about $80 some bucks delivered for 1/2", 4' height and 50' long roll. I buy the washers at Home Depot and use a screw and washer to secure the hardware cloth for life. You can get good coverage out of that roll if you plan according.

Happy building!

Rancher...congrats on your Anniversary!
Grandma...Those dilly beans look yummy, They are my fav! But, I always get some hot pepper flakes in mine~ YUM! If you like pickles you should like these too!
Hope everyone is having a real nice morning and weekend.

I will be concentrating on moving down two more coops to the new house....leaving only two that are very secure in place. They should be able to withstand a dog attack where the other two have vulnerabilities...Since i saw the dog out yesterday again it means a matter of time before he comes for my chickens.

I recently found out that I have 2 silkie pullets and not 2 silkie cockerels! They both started to do the egg laying squat when I come up to them. I got my first egg this morning that I think is a silkie egg, but I also have seramas ready to lay. What do you guys think?

Could def be a silkie egg...My earliest layer was around 4 months. Cool!
These girls are a little over 5 months old! I thought I heard an egg song this morning, its so funny to hear her talk her head off!

FILM SHOOT WITH CHICKENS NEEDS YOU!

Hi everyone! I’m producing a low-budget independent short film that’s in need of a chicken trainer/handler/wrangler for a few scenes involving about a dozen or less chickens, as we'll need the supervision and direction of somebody experienced with chickens on set to help us direct the chickens and to ensure that all their scenes can be filmed safely! We will be shooting November 11th to 15th but the chicken scenes will only be a few, if not couple, of those days.

Filming will take place in Westtown, NY, upstate in Orange County. If you are not local, transportation will be provided from downtown Manhattan (Greenwich village pick-up).

As this is a low-budget production, we unfortunately cannot compensate you with anything crazy but we will be glad to work some kind of rate. Meals and housing, as this is a sleepaway shoot for the rest of the cast and crew, will be provided.

If interested, please email me at [email protected] or call/text me at 201-450-6249 with a little bit about yourself and why you’d like to be a part of this project! :) I will also be visiting this thread as often as I can if you'd like to reply here as well.

Ideally you could provide your own chickens and would be okay with us filming them; but, if not, then no worries as we have planned on purchasing our own adult chickens in that case.

If you also have any recommendations on where we’d be able to find somebody who may be interested in this, I would be very grateful if you could relay me any of that info!

Thank you for reading and I hope to hear back from you! :)

Best,
-Waley

Seems to me that may not be a bad price. Did that include shipping? Though I use U nails to hold it on.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.

I ordered Lav Orp eggs from a great breeder on here... They were not cheap... I have BEAUTIFUL looking chickens thanks to The Gary Farm! I did find a semi-local breeder in Letchworth, NY too... She was charging $15 a chick, unsexed of course. Not as good of looking stock as The Garry Farm!
