NY chicken lover!!!!

Its a personal decision..you have to decide what you think is best for your flock ...
Im curious why did you split them this time of year ?
I put my 2 flocks together ...for heat in the winter ( young ones & old ones )

I've got all mine running together too except for the ayam cemanis. My silkies, cochins, frizzles, naked necks and everybody else are together though. Heat lamps scare me not only because of the risk of fire, but because if they go out and the temperature drops quickly all the birds can die from the shock of it.

My plan is to keep everyone together from October thru February or March. Then split to breeding groups for several hatches then start free ranging everyone together again. Come cold they should all be getting along again to keep the barn warm. By October I should have a 24×24 coop.

So sorry about your various troubles, rancher. You watch Grimm?! I love Grimm! At least I used to. I watched the first season, and then I had to stop because life caught up with me. Don't have much time for tv anymore. Homework takes up hours of my time. My younger one would not do his homework unless someone is sitting right there and glaring at him.
I also have a deviated septum, but the doc never recommended surgery. I have allergies too, and with the deviation, I get sinus infections often. There are a couple of nasal sprays I use for the allergies, and the idea is that if you can prevent the allergic reactions by regular use of the spray, you can also prevent the sinus problems. My cousins swear by the Neti pot. I used it once or twice, but always feel like I'm drowning.
You can dry thyme, if you're fond of it. I like it in meat.
I know it can be difficult to remain housebound if you're an outdoor person, especially with no tv! Use a fast acting allergy med an hour before you go tend your flock. It might help, plus the mask.

EE hatching eggs you say?
I apologize if anyone is offended but you folks are my friends and I see no reason to charge Lots of money. They're a variety of mix so colors can't be sure but they are fun. Lord have mercy EE's are easy enough to breed or whatever. It's not like their is some deep science involved. Not like pure breeds anyhow. No need to keep everyone separated. I mean color wise.

Rancher, I have Amazon Prime, mostly for the free two day shipping on most things, but I do use it sometimes for movies or tv shows. I think it cost $75... or $90.. to renew this year. Sorry, things like that seem to slip out of my mind so quickly these days. I get more use out of Netflix and pay like $15/month...
I just placed a (way too large) seed order through Fruition Seeds. They are a bit expensive, but they are local (Ontario County), and produce all organic seed, so I am happy to pay a bit more. I had really great luck with their seed last year. They are still fairly new, so selection isn't huge, but growing in leaps and bounds!

Netti pot- if you can use it, try it. It makes a HUGE difference. I'm easily freaked out by things put into noses, but it's totally painless and easy if you have the technique right. The trick is to open your mouth an inch or two so that the salt water doesn't come into your mouth. My husband, who has had a lifetime of sinus issues, swears by it.
I've never heard of them. Do they have a website or catalog? I do like to keep things local.

I know its fround upon but broke down in put heat lamps in the coops. I used to have one coop with them all, but I built another much bigger one right before Christmas and I fear the six chickens and the turkey just have to much space in there to keep warm. Same with the original coop with only the five adults and four youngin left there.
You have to do what's best for you. What helps you sleep at night.

I have just the three Daisies in the half hoop. Though I have thought to bring them inside with me, DW would not allow it. They seem fine.

Again you have to do what's best for you. Why should you worry what anyone else thinks? Lord have mercy there are more important things to worry about.

"Here's to you and here's to me, and may we never disagree.

But if by chance we ever do, here's to me and

to you."

Keep in mind you might get Grimm from the public library. I would never pay for the episodes on Prime. I've watched all the seasons. Grimm and Castle and Bones and Murdoch Mysteries and Foyles War and Midsomer Murders and Inspector Lewis.

I began with Lost but after the second or third season I lost interest.

Point the public library is a great place to borrow DVDS and books. Too many DVD's and books on gardening though. I may try the basic Square foot garden to some degree.
