Your chicks are really pretty, boskelli. what did you use to hatch them?

I borrowed a friends incubator, a Hoverbator 2362. It did a good job considering I had it set up in a cold outbuilding...

Hi, im posting this here as I'm close to some parts of NY (I'm in southwestern Connecticut) and maybe someone may be interested.

I've been on here for a while but never posted. i love the site and i've gone here first for any issues with my chickens, so this is where i hope i can post about my rooster problem. i hatched this guy from a RIR rooster i had last year and an Ameracauna hen. I know there's a lot of questions about ameracauna/americana/easter egger, but i bought her from a poultry farmer who sold her to me as an Ameracauna. She does lay greenish/blue eggs. I hatched two of her eggs last spring and got a hen and a rooster (the one in question here). The hen also lays greenish/blue eggs, so i'm thinking any chicks hatched from my rooster would also lay greenish/blue eggs. Maybe? the gene is clearly there, but i'm not entirely sure of the genetics to be honest.

Anyways, i love this rooster, but i'd like to get rid of him. my coop is kind of crowded, and he's treading the hens and has left one of them with a naked back already. he is AWESOME with people. not at all aggressive, will eat out of my hand, and he waits until nearly 7am each morning to start crowing. That's much later than the one i had before, who would start at like 4am.

please post here or message me if you're interested in taking him. i want him to go to a nice home and not be culled, so i hope you'd be honest about your intentions. he's about 9 months old now. in the pictures below you can see his mother (the all-white hen) and his sister (light brown with gray tail feathers)

The thing is, rancher, there are no feed stores close by me. At least two hours drive each way to the closest one, and with hubby out of the country, I'm minding the store, the kids, the house, the critters.... No time to go that far. I'd have to get it online too, like I did the corid, and it would take just as long to get here, if not longer.
I have a jar of Corid from last year. I could ahve sent. I'm not sure why I bought. I like to have things just in case. I could have sent it to you since I won't be keeping chickens. I'm sure things will work out.

My new cockerel, Little Jerry Seinfeld, from @Susieq2015. He's being quarantined right now, but he is happy and healthy. He loves being held and will nestle his head into my elbow or hair to cuddle. He'll let me hold him for hours in front of the TV (if DH would let him - I usually get 20 minutes). Anyway, LJ is adorable. Fingers crossed he stays this sweet

We love to enable chicken ownership. In fact in May there will be lots of cute fuzzies of all sorts in one place. Feel free to join..

I ferment their feed, so they should be getting pre/probiotics already. The thing is, none of them look sick, all running around and eating ( except that they turned up their beaks at the burned rice I gave them today

Hopefully everything will be fine. Id hate to lose any.

Oh that is great! sounds like they are doing okay if they are running around and all good deal!~

now he is just precious . What is he do you know? As long as you keep handling him constantly he will stay very tame. My Roo's are sweet but not hand birds. They aren't flighty they were just not handled a lot when young.

Thank you! As long as he wants to be held, I will be happy to oblige. He is an EE of some sort.
