NY chicken lover!!!!

Well....although they are beautiful to look at I certainly won't be breeding them so it seems a shame to 'waste' her on simply egg laying. I'm about 70 minutes or so from you so an afternoons drive. Not sure what I want in exchange (except no roosters). Make me an offer - $ or otherwise. Not the best photo - she is better in real life

oh she is GGGorgeous....

So General, my DeUlce roo, has a new wife. She is a little black cochin bantam. Hearts and Stars, Generals wife's also DeUlce, love Fluff Butt. They all 4 chase the big birds around then cackle at them because they can't retaliate.

Come spring I'm adding 25 turkey's and 10 keets ( hopefully they make it to adulthood) and 50 meaties and oh crap chicken math is insane. Then 4 weeks after all those arrive it 100 more "surprise birds" and 50 more meaties. Then 3- 4 weeks later it's butcher 50 meaties and order 50 more... Someone help!!! I think I lost control.

Yeah, but in a good way... Didn't I read in my backlog somewhere that you've gone from hobbyist to business woman/farm-ettrepreneur? Kudos! I wish I could make that shift.

Some one called from Syracuse .about my roosters ...
They told me when they got here ...they wanted to eat them ..
Which I somewhat ...expected ..
Then they asked could they kill them here ..
I was like...I dont know ..So I let them .
They carried them down to the woods and killed them there..
I didnt want to watch ...
they took 5 of my roosters ...and 2 old hens...
Paid me $25.00 ..if anyone is interested ...I have his #
The afternoon was much more peaceful without them ..
Missy and broody Hens were still hiding ....expecting them to pop out at them & chase them
I have 3 Roosters left Lucky , Cowboy and Cutie
Would you like to PM me that number. I don't need it now but might later on. I gave an Oriental lady two big roosters I knew were going to be dinner.

Greetings all, I've been out of it for a while & got behind on what's happening. I'm getting caught up slowly. (I have "young onset" Parkinson's from my short career in the Army, and had a really rough Summer...) I have some Bantam. "Ameraucana" which are probably "really" EE's (legs are more "willow" than "slate" but otherwise they're stunners): 7 available: 3 cockerels (1 who is starting to crow), 4 pullets (2 of whom are definitely going ASAP, though there's one I am leaning towards keeping and the fourth is in between). These littles were hatched by my broody Bantam Menace in late August. It is too early for eggs from the girls, but all of these hatched out of amazingly blue tiny eggs.

All of the Bantam "Ameraucana"s are in the range of "blue wheaten" and the boys are really striking. I will post pics ASAP.
I would prefer to regime pullet/cockerel pairs (and I can keep the odd one out ;-).
Please message me if you're interested. Thanks.
I wish I could keep them all, but... City living sux.

Yes you did. It's great amounts of fun. I get to play with birds all day AND get paid to do it. What other "job" is as much fun as farming? Well not the farming part necessary but the doing what you love part. Farming to me is the equivalent to a day of no worries. If I slip in the mud my animals don't laugh, they all come check on me. If I smash my finger with a hammer and curs they all cackle at me. What better co-workers than 2 dogs and 7 cats? I think a lot of people would be much happier with animals.

I think we may get that awful four letter word Sunday, hope they're wrong. Great for deer season but I sure ain't ready for it around the house. This nice weather has had me put off too much, hopefully not too late. We did get a new roof on our house so at least I don't have to worry about that.

Same, I've been putting stuff off too. I really need to get plastic up over my runs, build that new gate so the stupid pig can't keep eating my feed, I want to build a covered feed area for outside the coop...a lot to do and not a lot of time.

Yep ...Me Too ! Stuff I want to do ..
I m wanting to evict the babies out of the baby coop so I can fill it with leaves / bedding for the winter .
Probably have more time to do that ..I have room now that the roosters are gone .

I did 12 more bags in the last 2 days...if it doesnt rain tomorrow I will probably get more ...
I need leaf bags though ..
