Just wanted to sayThank you to Cutiepatootie. Thanks to her generous sale of her beautiful pair of Malines, I'm on my way to growing my own flock. My first hatch of 6 is now about seven days old. My second hatch of 7 is just 2 days old.

These pics are of the first bunch. More group pics when I clean the brooder. I can't Thank her enough. These are Big Beautiful birds.

It thrills me beyond belief to see that they are loved and appreciated for the beautiful birds they are.

Ok, I just looked up the Malines chicken. It's big abdominal beautiful and I think I might have 2. Are there any other breeds that look like that? My 2 are giant's compared to the rest their age, they have the feathered legs and almost the proper coloring. They are gray not black though. And Cackle doesn't seem to carry them.

Is it possible they are barred cochins?

Definitely barred cochins, malines are rare and hatcheries don't have them.

Marans! The cochin feet are too feathered and the malines are to rare. The coocko marans match though. Yippee.

The cuckoo marans that cackle sells are clean-legged though, not feather legged. Plus the giant size points more to cochin. Pictures would help :)

Edit: Well I take it back. They seem to sell cuckoo marans and 'french' cuckoo marans, the latter of which have feathered legs.

I have 7 or 8 of this year's pullets for sale if she would be interested.  Mixed breed.  Kind of far, about a hundred miles.

Yeah, hundred miles is a bit much :(

Ask Rancher ...he may have some ..he is looking to downsize his flock some ...
However he may not like the situation they would possibly  be in ..
Need More info
So ...About a hour from Syracuse ...Would they come and get them ?
Our would the donors have to deliver ?

I'm sure they could pick up, especially on school break right now. I wasn't sure if Rancher had more to downsize or he was already down to where he wanted to be.
