My name is Nikki and I am in Stuyvesant, NY! I am happy to be a part of this thread and

i have an acre and a half and we are surrounded by corn fields and open pastures around our land. Very far from the road and we have tried our best to make our DIY coop which is not at all finished. We have 12 chicks, 6 are pullets ISA reds from tractor supply and the other 6 were shipped from McMurray Hatchery in Iowa and there are two Reds Stars, two Black Stars, one Australorp and one Auracauna. The 6 from Iowa were born on March 26th, 2017 and the 6 from Tractor Supply were born March 10th.

There are lots of good design ideas on here so I'm sure you'll have no trouble. TSC did have a lot of chicks this year and many sold cheaply enough.

Take care and I wish you the best.

Having a "I'm going to get rid of my chickens" kind of day.

I hear that. This cold rainy weather and work are getting to me. Regretting getting the bunnies now rabbits and have posted them to CL. Also the Silkies I got at TSC. Haven't decided on the K, Campbells yet.

So many hens ahve gone broody there are two sometimes three in a box. Eggs getting broken. I've put a couple of Bucket next boxes on the coop flloor and moved the some to the back hoop coop.

Guy didn't come for the two roosters but said Saturday. Once they're gone I'll feel better about them.

I'll likely pull the lone hen with the two chicks and put her back in the coop. Move the BO chicks in with them. She's not likely to take on so many new chicks. I did give her a third chick that hatched but it died. Plus her two are not growing as fast as the ones in the brooder.

Car needs to go into the shop, DW has appointments and work outside the home and inside the home are making me tired.

Anyhow chin up Tao, warmer weather is coming. Once I get things and everyone settled and situated, I'll feel differently, I'm sure you will too. Though not sure what I'll do with all or any more chicks that hatch.

Take care,

ive been having lots of those lately.
About to graduate from my program so that's exciting but there are also a lot of last minute requirements and stress. Now that my dog is in recovery, I feel like the chickens deserve more attention but I just don't care about them the way I care about my dog, she comes first of course. I don't have the time or the know-how to finish the coop and mr.lee seems to have other projects right now. Unfort. I have a bunch of chicks about to hatch and a bunch already hatched that mr. lee wants to keep. Why? I have no idea since he's never been THAT into my chicken hobby. Also some chicks I dont even know what they are thanks to someone sending me the wrong ones. Not to mention a back order that may or may not get shipped from a breeder next week.

Welcome! As Rancher said there are great ideas for coops etc. to be had here for free. Enjoy your chicks - they grow really fast!

Does anyone know of any places I could find free or cheap fencing? More messing around with my birds has convinced me to fence out a huge area, move all the coops into it, and lock all the gates. Which is going to be expensive unless I can find some cheap fence.
