Molting can be brought on by many things. Stress is one, so check for that. Change in the coop etc etc. Predators around but seen only by the chickens. Lots of things. It has been warm and wet this year. What a pain.

I've still got hens sitting but that will end soon. Some chicks are being left in the coop with their mothers. Que Sera, Sera.

TTFN, gotta get those currants and other berries before it's too late.

If it were just my hens, I'd look into stress, especially with all the new birds in the coop- but since my neighbor a mile down the road is seeing the same signs I think it has more to do with the weather.

sorry I went quiet again- this new site update kept rejecting my email and I just now had time to create a while new email just for this darn site to work. blah

hey guys looking for some help to identify these birds. I only raise marans so i don't know a ton about other breeds. They hatched blue and then turned red. Then the coloring you see now started to come in.

Just wondering because the jerk I purchased them from had no idea what they could be. long story that i ranted about on here before trying to move on from that aspect of the whole thing lol

thanks for your suggestions in advance
