I have had hawks circling the last few days. Thankfully they are scared of my pie tins on my bird netting.

no need to hide. They are huge compared to the rest of the chicks, but they're not colored like the cockerels. I have them in the grow-out-boy coop with meatbird feed. I'm watching them closely and will pull them out if they get more pullet-like.

this is why I'm cautious. They look like pullets except for their size and combs are similar to the boys.

Hello my fellow New Yorkers! Wondering what timer you can recommend for starting up Christmas lights in the coop every morning?

How old are your chickens ? Chickens that are just starting to lay should lay through the winter naturally .
if they are older ...Some Folks let then rest if they need to ....the way they would naturally be according to the level of light .
