Hi all,
I have a garden security question. So, for securing the garden from chickens who may decide to help themselves to a salad bar during their supervised ranging time... do you think 2' chicken wire is high enough? (It's nice for us to step over to get to the garden, but I'm thinking now that it may be a good height for them to easily hop over?
Do you think they'll pretty much make a bee-line for the garden and pop over the fence without even thinking twice? They will be supervised though, and the garden is quite a way away from thier coop (maybe 150'+). I'm thinking I'll have time to re-direct thier thoughts before they get any ideas? (Of course, I'm also a newbie.)
Oh, another question: I have a smaller garden with root veggies (Garlic, shallots, onions) - good and stinky stuff. Will they get into that? Should I fence that off too? (The Garlic will be out by the time the chicks are ready to go outside, but the onions and shallots will still be there for the summer.
Thoughts?
