NY chicken lover!!!!

They're here! They're here!

The babies just arrived on Thursday, they are now 5 days old and everyone seems to be healthy, happy, and adjusting their new home just fine. My husband and I are spending a lot of time watching "chick-TV" - sitting and just watching them play. The littlest one (the Rhode Island Red) seems to be asserting herself as the leader for now.

They are just so cute and so entertaining - I'm SO glad we decided to get them this year rather than waiting another year. They are growing so fast already - growing little feathers at the tips of their wings. So much fun to watch them learn and to learn more about them.

The next few weeks will be busy as we finish yard security and start building the coop we've decided on. (In between work and watching chick-TV of course.)

Take lots of pictures, they grow so fast you'll be amazed. I remember when my chicks could fit through the chicken wire, not any more! look like tiny adult birds!

Got no polish.

anyone who is near Aurora,NY going to a place called "Pumpkin Hill" for lunch tomorrow. Nice place if you'd like an alfresco lunch. Nice view of the lake.

I have 6 of the standard polish from Patty at chickenstock. They're gorgeous little things. I may look to sell a few later in the summer. The 4 new babies are only about a week old.

Ok so we went to Pumpkin Hill in Aurora. The food was really good and we got to sit out on the porch. The view was very nice and they had a path mowed throught the meadow of wild flowers. DD and SIL went for a walk as did me and DW. The weather was just right.

Total cost for four $116.02. This included drinks and desserts and tip. Can't wait to go again. Stopped at McKenzie Childs and got a tour of the mansion. If you are planning a trip it would be worth the detour to stop in Auroa and go to Pumpkin Hill and visit McKenzie Childs.
You can make reservations if you wish.

Wishing you well

I just got some BLR wyandottes a few months ago and I LOVE them. I got 2 hens and a roo from craigslist. They are so docile, so calm, that I was able to put them in with my flock (that already has a rooster) and they get along great. I hope they go broody and I can have more of them soon. I can pick the hens up anytime I want and they love it, me too. Welcome to BYC!
