Been watching the lightening for about a half hour up here in Saratoga County and just had a loud crack of thunder shake the house! Weird.

Hello from the Baldwinsville area. We got out of chickens after a nasty fox killed our flock Im looking for chicks and laying hens if anyone is selling close by.

Thanks for the referral but I just sold the last ten. I don't know what they may be looking for or how many. I sent them an e-mail and may by willing to part with some older Dels that are still laying.

Hope you have secured things for the nasty foxes, they can be a pain.

I am contemplating what I want my broodies to hatch out this year....Since I have so many hens now that all lay brown eggs I can't tell which egg is what!
Anyone have any fertile eggs they would be willing to part with?
I would like to stick with pure breds cause I could hatch out mutts on my own. Bantams are ideal, but I want to stay away from OEGB's, RIR's (if they even come bantam size idk) but just about anything else bantam will be cool. I will consider Barnvelder eggs (I know they aren't bantam) and would LOVE some phoenix egss. anyone?

then I wonder if anyone knows how long I can store them since I will be just waiting for a hen to go broody (and how to store them). My phoenix hen is looking to go broody real soon and this is the time of year she sat last year.

I have a pair of Rosecomb Brwn Leghorn bantams. While I only have one hen she's is laying and her eggs should be fertile though this past hatch I had only a couple of eggs in and they didn't hatch but then it was a bad hatch too. I plan to try some out after the first of March. They are nice birds but leghorns are flighty I think and they need to be kept warm I don't think they do well in the extreme cold. Anyone got information? I've been all over the internet and can't find much on this breed.

I would think they would do fine in the winter due to thier rose comb and not the typical leghorn comb. My leghorns seem to do just fine in this weather, no heated coop, but insulated and usually warmer in there than outside.
