Well I did get the plywood for the floor of my two new hoop coops. And we just finished replacing the old stockade fencing and I've been working on the yard where the chickens run. I'm going to plant ornamental grasses along the fence but will have to put a wire fence to keep them from digging it out. Hopefully it will provide them with shade.
Because the leach field is near by I can't plant shrubs but you can. If you surround the base with 2' fencing to protect the roots it should hang over and proved them with shade. At least with the right shrub any how.
Went to the regional market and gave my card to a couple that were there and DON'T have chickens yet. Lord have mercy , chickens are much easier to deal with than cats and dogs IMO. If you can control the urge to get 70. Unlike Moi. But a nice variety of colors in Orpingtons would be nice. Let see there are Black, buff, white, blue and lavender. I have these ones. Well not the blue but a splash hen and hopefully she'll start laying soon and I can stick her with one of the black roos. But I have buff roo and hens, lav roo and hens, wht roo and hens. Only got blk roos and a splash hen. Not to mention the rarer colors. Jubilee, chocolate, lemon cuckoo and any I can't think of. I don't have these yet. But Orpingtons look so nice in the yard don't they.
I had offered tgrlily the op to come and have a look and put her two cents in before I breed them but she must be busy cuz she hasn't taken me up on the offer. Yet? In fact she hasn't been on in a while. I hope she and hers are ok.
Take care and stay cool.
