I am sorry for your loss. I too have some I put the cart before the horse with. That's the thing with chickens. They're just to easy to acquire and before the coop or arrangements for housing are in place. I do hope you have a better time finding buyers than I'm having. Right now I have posted two Orp roos from hinkjc farms and not takers. These are nice big guys too.
Look on the bright side you can start again after you have all the protection in place. Lord have mercy I'm always giving chicks away each year or at the very least selling them cheap. Just remember no matter what you do your going to have to fight the vermin anyway. Make sure you have a plan whether trap , shoot or prevention.
Take care and I wish you the best,

I have coops and such, they're just really really redneck versions and totally NOT predator proof. So I've had some losses IN the coops, plus the stuff that went mia from free ranging. My husband is just not getting the whole thing, doesn't understand why I would want to pay for feed for all that stuff, why was I even bothering since I was never going to make any money, so I said fine, its all gone then. Then he said I was "overreacting" and I should just keep a couple things... If I had to wait for him to improve something heck may freeze over! He says well just leave them in the coop, and I said well, its not going to keep out a thing. He doesn't see breeding stock out there, just random chickens and ducks...
And I am tired of the ducks stealing the rabbit food and the chickens escaping from the pen and roosting in the rabbitry...
Is there a Kelly blue book for boats? LOL I'm going to sell the boat I think, don't think I would get much for it tho, its ancient. When my brother got married like 8 years ago he got land with trees he's farmed (twice) that they put up their MH on and I got a 15yo fishing boat. Yeah, I thought that was fair too. We never ever use it.
At least you can eat your Roos, not much meat on Runner ducks! :O I don't know why they won't stay in the yard, everything else does. Of course, there is a LOT of really high grass that never got mowed this spring (anyone got a bush hog thing I can borrow?) so it makes great predator camoflauge!
I did get a couple CL responses, one I deleted as "odd" since it didn't specifially mention anything and the other sounds like a bored local mom with kids who wants to come "tour"? Ummm, no? Its hot, there's poop, nuf said. Tell me what ya want and I will go catch it for you... I mean its "cleanish" out there, but I have rabbits and well, rabbits poop. A LOT. The duck coop needs mucking too, because I can't let them out, its 95 out and I'm probably NOT supposed to be shoveling duck poop... Besides, I don't need your kids chasing my ducks or poking my rabbits or wanting to go into the garage or hoop house to look at stuff. (I hate "wanderers")
Of course, the heat and the pregnancy hormones *might* be making me a touch mental, but I haven't killed anyone yet, so its all good!
But thanks for the thoughts, I'm just having a bad week with the heat, putting the kitty down, stuff going MIA, stuff dropping dead, pregnancy and the bills. My husband has a knack for making stuff worse rather than better.
