NY chicken lover!!!!

Going to take the kids on vacation this summer. Looking for a place any where from Maine to Virginia on the OCEAN! If you know of a nice little spot, tent, motel, hotel, etc. I would love to know. Thanks!

Hello, My husband and I went to Wells Maine this last fall and just Loved it. Quiet and on the coast. Definitely recommend it!

Yolu know you"re a redneck when you run out in camo hunting boots, a long (ish) purple nightgown and a winter jacket to let the chickens out, hoping the neighbors are still sleeping. That would be me this morning. It is a fine drizzle on top of the 6 inches of snow yesterday and warmish. The ladies let me have it as soon as they heard me coming to the coop. It was bawk this and bawk bawk that and bawkety bawk bawk bawk. I do believe they are very upset over the evil white stuff and they refuse to leave the coop. I dont know which is worse, whiney kids or whiney chickens! Maybe it was my outfit that they were commenting on. My silkies have a covered run so they stampeded out this morning. Sarah had to have cuddles first though. Hoping a lot of this crap melts off the road before I have to go to work. Schools are on a 2 hour delay so I know the roads are messy. Didnt hear one vehicle go by yet on ours and it is usually busy in the am.

Hope everyone else made out ok with the snow. I know that everyone on the tug hill plateau will be happy because that mean snowmobilers will be up this weekend. I know my dd and her boyfriend have their sleds loaded up and ready to go! I remember those days (vaguely)! Rancher--hope your joints arent too bad today. Hows the hatch going?

Its only32 days till I get my chicks! So excited! Just got to figure out where and how I am going to brood that many,

For those who are coloring eggs, I have a greek friend who used the onion skin dye for easter to turn all the eggs red (They have only red eggs for Easter) - I had to try it as well and it's extremely cool. Works on brown eggs just fine and it would be a neat thing to show kids.

featherz, I tried this last year with purple and yellow skins. They all came out dark brown! They were fun to do however!! I have a frind who is Russian. This is how she does her eggs.

So now the partridge rocks are doing a 9 month moult and the other girls are pecking at them. Put some black salve on it the wounds, but I will probably have to go out and seperate them this afternoon. Had running around to do this morning and still a little shakey from the drive. Roads are awful up here on the hill and are just getting worse with all the snow coming down. If it wasn't a doctor appt, I wouldn't have gone.

Anyway, hope everyone is having a good day so far.

Yah, I was supposed to go out and find a notary to notarize a form for work today, but decided to stay home - I bet the notary stayed home also! :p About 6-7 inches here. Did manage to clear some of it this morning, but piling up again. Chickens are opting to stay inside and complain. :)
