I wasn't going to log in but then I read this. Now I've been married for a long time. ( married men live longer, ,,,, it only seems longer..) But seriously this is for your husband. Dude no matter how long you live you will never do half the work your wife will. Even if she wasn't there you will never do as much as her. Sometimes when my DW is home and doing stuff I'm thinking. I don't know what motivates her to do that. Heck I'd buy paper plates and cups. I can never figure out how she manages to do the dishes and put them all away. I hate drying dishes. I'm retired and she still comes home and makes dinner. Sometimes she lets me make it. I used to eat those boil bag things. I'm not sure they even make them anymore. So dude buy her a truck if she wants it. Unless you have a bunch of kids. If a truck will cost the same as an SUV buy her the truck, just cuz she wants it. Me I'd settle for ...... nah I'd rather have a truck too. Right now I have a minivan. IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT. Me I'm so poor I can't even pay attention.![]()
I think I just realized why married women tend to out live their husbands. It's Gods way of giving them a few years without having to pick up after someone.![]()
Good morning all and welcome newbies (I'm a displaced upstate NYer from Ithaca so I'm tolerated here). Living on Long Island I need a 22 for the neighbors not the coons. Great photos everyone. My friend that I gave my Black copper marans to last summer has eggs that should start hatching on Fri. I can't wait. She said I can have a hen if she gets an extra. He is a beautiful creature. He is still healing from the fox attack on Monday. I picked up all the feathers he lost and plan to send them to my brother since he ties his own flies. Well out to take care of the girls (and 2 remaining boys) just can't believe I can't even give them away.
One last thing maybe I can get some suggestions . I need a new automobile. My husband wants me to get a SUV type thing. I WANT A TRUCK..... I've had two and now with owning chicks. I think I need another one.Last week when I went to Agway I had to tie the food to the roof racks since I had two bales of straw in the trunk. You should see what my VW beetle's tuunk looks like. Its 11 years old. It looks like a small feed store exploded in it. Most times its either his way or the highway. Sure do miss my dad ; if he was alive we'd go truck shopping. Can you buy a car with American Express? Wish me luck....Carol
Carol,
yes, at the right dealer you can buy a car with your American Express. My SO (ray) bought a car with his Credit card once. Was a used car, but it was over 6 grand. (Wish I had that much open to use on my Credit card....oh, wait, I'd spend it...not a good idea)
Second, you can get a truck for less than an SUV. And the newer trucks get better gas mileage than an SUV. AND you can hose out a truck, not adviseable with an SUV.
Have you looked at trucks? They make some really really nice ones. Maybe you can talk him into one with a "king cab" which is basically a SUV with a bed attatched.
The problem with many SUV's (and I have owned 4 of them in the past 10 years) is the weight limitations....Many SUV's are built on Car chassies....so you can't load them as heavy as a truck. Some of the smaller SUV's have car tires, again weight limitations....So a truck is what you want if you are going to haul 3- 5 hundred pounds at a time (like I want to, to save money by going to feed store instead of TSC for chicken food). Now if you are really loaded (and I mean rich) a Suburban is built on a truck frame, so you have all that indoor space that you can fill like a truck. (But they start at 40 grand and go UP in price)
Personally I would go with the truck, unless there were small children needing transport. And if he is saying SUV cuz it handles better than truck in bad weather, tell him...hold on buster, that's not really true....ask any SUV driver (w/o 4 wheel drive) how their vehicle handles in the snow...they'll tell you "exactly the same as a car"....and very few SUV's have "on demand" 4 wheel drive, so you lose gas mileage if you get 4WD SUV....better to get a truck with "on demand" 4WD and learn to lock the hubs yourself, if that is how you engage the 4 WD.
