29 eggs left. near the end of the hatch I do helpouts if I think they need it. Day 21 starts at noon today, so these are "early birds"

The Nassau sale is about five minutes from me. I LOVE this town! This is why I can get away with chickens and ducks - we're allowed to engage in any agricultural activities we want as long as we practice good husbandry.

If your town's Farm and Ag Committee sponsors a small farm animal sale - in fact, if your town HAS a Farm and Ag Committee - you might be a redneck.

I wonder if anybody will have turkey poults for sale. I still want a couple of turkeys, but I don't want to order fifteen of them, as that's about ten more than I need.

Amy, I keep thinking about getting turkeys too! I worry about black head though and what the prevelence (sp? I can not get spell check to work on this site since the changeover. any ideas/suggestions?)of blackhead is around here.

Stony--what are you going to use for a motor for your plucker? I have a washing machine.....

I thought it was illegal in nys to have wild turkeys in any way, shape or form. How do those of you who raise them get around this? I would love to raise some turkeys but just dont have the room. Loving this warmer weather. Hoping my lawn dries up soon. Starting the coop tomorrow. Dh is taking the day off to begin. Hopefully we dont kill each other during the process of building this thing! Went out at 7 this am to let the cheeps out as it was just getting light and the lazy girls were still on the roost! Bunch of spoiled divas! The kids (aka silkies) were up and scratching around and almost ran me over getting out the door this am. Time to find room to set up the brooder boxes for the babies. The month is passing fast and they will be here soon.

Glad everyone is having a good hatch so far. I am hoping to start one soon. Just need my silkies to lay a few more eggs.

Congrats on the new peeps....I hear you...its so much more fun to watch them pop from their shells! Lets just say the housework suffered for a bit! LOL

4 out of 25 this morning. Day 21 starts at 8:00 tonight, so i am hoping for a better hatch, my goal is 20 out of 25, but of course would love 25 out of 25.

This one gives me eggs for my broody supposed to be EE's. EE's my foot! Quackers that's what they were.

I wanted ducks but tried to control my self. No help this one. Beware or you'll have turkeys.

She's knows she's my BCF (Best Chicken Friend) and takes advantage.

Not that it's hard you know. I called the doctor about my problem and I swear I heard him say, " Take two chicks and call me in the morning"..

I need an intervention.
