NY chicken lover!!!!

The hidey-hole nest was as advertised - a nice, big duck nest with several Leghorn eggs in there for good measure. There had to be thirty eggs in total. Some of those things were definitely rotten. When I was placing them in a bag (very, very carefully), the bad egg funk became painfully evident. It was a pile of eggs with some hidden stink bombs waiting to happen.

They're now in the trash, which, mercifully, is scheduled for pickup tomorrow. We'd have to nuke the bin from orbit were those monsters to break in there.

My ladies have been holding out on me. There is a tiny space behind an old window leaning up against one of the walls in the coop. Apparently that is the perfect laying space. Alan found at least two dozen eggs jammed in there this evening. We figured that there must be a hidey-hole, as I thought I'd lost a hen duck today. I couldn't find her anywhere in an enclosed run and coop, and thought maybe she had managed to get out somehow. When I threw weeds in the run as a treat, though, she came running with the others, so I thought "uh-oh." I had to work this evening, but he was home and went a-hunting. Rotten birds. Also, rotten eggs. Alan said one of my dogs sampled one, and immediately made "BLEARGH" faces, and a devilish stench rose from the thing. They're all getting chucked, and we're blocking the hidey hole. Goofy birds.
That stinks, in many ways. So glad I'm not the only one though! Although 2 doz doesn't match my 60+ LOL

What on earth is this?!? So not only do I have alien chickens, I am now getting alien eggs!

I told you so. No one believes me. When I had silkies there was a green glow coming from the coop at night. I was to afraid to check and see what was going on. All I hear from the coop was "click, clikcity click" and the occasional cluck and brrrruuuuucccckkkk!

I hope you're wearing a welders shield when you crack that thing open.. You should call the FBI, CIA and the E I E I O.

going to the auction in W. Winfield with chicks. Some Dels and some EE's not new borns but a few. Some roos and some pullets I'm sure. If any one is interested and going to be there. I'm just dropping off I think.

Just mention BYC and they're yours free. If you see me before or tell me now and want to come and get them. You must take them all.

After a week of BYC withdrawl, I'm back. I've missed 247 posts on this thread. I'll never catch up, so I apologize if I've missed anything major. I was crazy busy with the craft show (I beat my $ goal by $1!!!). Kids are back to school and I'm back to school and we can get into a regular schedule again (yeah, right... wishful thinking).
After months of brown eggs, I suddenly found a green egg the other day. Seems one of our Tetra Tints must have some EE genes in her. And she insists on laying her beautiful green eggs on the floor. She doesn't just drop them. She's made a nest. I'm wondering if another tetra will start with green eggs, too. Those two pullets are the only tetras with grey legs.
Hope everyone has been well. I've missed my BYC ritual!
