NY chicken lover!!!!

I was at the saratoga walmart a few hours ago.. A few crazies with three carts in tow (geeze, what are they expecting out this way? predicted to be rain and maybe more rain and some wind.. my clinic will even be open).. but for the most part no hysteria. Still water on the shelves. Saw one display entitled 'frankenstorm supplies' but nothing too nutty.

We always have enough food here and the pool would do for water should we run out. I'm not concerned - wish I could stay home from work tomorrow tho! :)

Just popping in to say we are worried about you guys out east !

Hopefully it goes OK and no big issues !!!!!!!!!!

Hey, I also want to say I borrowed Cheeka's gorgeous photo of the little ghosy boy decoration...what a beautiful pic, awesome country !
I posted the pic on the WA thread for folks to see the way you did the ghost boy.
Hope you do not mind.
It is so cute !!!

I just heard school is canceled for Monday and Tuesday back in my home town in CT. I went out and stocked up on my candy to get me thru this storm (that we won't see much of I'm sure) Good thing I dont have trick or treators I have to share with! ;-) Went to Target yesterday and more people shopping for their usual weekly items than anything else. I did see them restocking the shelves with water. Other than that, nothing crazy.

Wet and rainy out today, the chickens are not going to be happy cooped up this week!

My 4 yr old is going to be so disappointed. She got a really cute costume this year...some super cute princess dress from TJMAXX. Even though we won't be trick or treating...they'll both still dress up and take pictures.

hoping it is just some rain. Not that we need any more.
The Weather Channel guys said that the length of the storm is the problem. 30 hours of wind and heavy rain will uproot trees, taking out power lines and plunging millions into darkness. Time to find out how really "prepped" we are for "the end of the world as we know it".

I'm have a well here for water supply, so I am actually going to fill the bathtub with water for flushing the toilet this time. (I didn't for Irene, cuz it was so short lived) I was hoping for a day off due to storm, but it isn't looking like that is going to be a reality. Sigh.

my only problem is if the power goes out I can't finish the jobs I'm working on to get paid. Surviving a week or so without power. Easy peasy

Just got back from a Newfoundland draft test about an hour from here. The newf get hitched up to little wagons and manoever through course with figure 8s and narrow spaces, right angle turns etc. The weather was not too bad when I left home, but it got worse as time went on. All the humans were cold and damp. Highlight of the trip was my seat heater! Best invention ever.

Now that Im warmer and dryer, it's time to gather up potted plants and decorative squashs so they don't fly through the windows. We should be pretty snug. Propane heat and hot water, a fireplace for atmosphere, a generator...flashlights and candles...Yup. Wind is predicted to be coming from the NNW then NNE, and that side has less windows, and is protected by woods from the biggest winds. The woods are not close to the house. So am cautiously optimistic.

Gearing up for these events takes a lot of energy, and I really want everyone to be safe, no casualties, or damages. BUT, if it is a nonevent entirely, like a rainy day, I will want to kick the weather people. It is best if we are warned, take action and weather an exciting event safely.

I'm out your way Henicillin, out in Averill Park. Actually closing on a house in East Nassau on Friday!
Anyway our local hannaford wasnt crazy at all either, there were a few people buying cases of water but mostly older people. I was shocked at the number of cases laying around actually...same with batteries etc.
I have to go out to the East Greenbush Walmart in a bit for a few things...I'm a little afraid to go. It could be worth a laugh however. I will let you know how that goes

Good luck on the closing!! You are moving a little closer to me!!
