Well the enemies are no different...straight or gay, rich or poor. I am afraid I may be missing the point here.
I probably should not answer for aggie - but her/his comment got my attention as well. I think it meant that if she/he (and others) knew the folks who were bigoted/intolerant, that she/he would/could avoid having dealings with them in the future... That the bigoted/intolerant = the "enemy"
While I don't choose to have personal friends who are unkind, bigoted, unaccepting of differences, I don't think I'd want to know folks' personal biases. As long as people are respectful in their behaviors toward others here on BYC, that's good enough for me for on-line interactions
You made my point for me. But if people are making hateful comments, they are no longer being respectful towards others. And I DO wnat to knwo those personal biases. We see it in the political discussions all the time.
I would like to see who is making the hateful comments or doing the gay bashing. I don't necessarily want to hear the comments, but I want to know where the hate is coming from.
That way, if I choose to, I can avoid further discussions where those people are involved. I can also spend my dollars elsewhere when I know someone has such hateful or ugly beliefs about me or my family.
I do the same for people who get radically crazy at any topic. Regardless of the topic. I don't mind differing opinions. That is the point to debate and lively forums, such as this one. But when someone gets off-the-wall wacko about some topic, I leave it alone and move on.
But if I see poster X saying "all gay people should be killed," or similar venom, I will avoid them like the plague in the future. And I sure as heck won't buy from them.
But I would like to know who is saying the nasty stuff. Even if the comment is deleted, the posters name could be left for all to see. Maybe a moderator could change the post to say "comment deleted due to personal attack" or bashing, or inappropriate comment, etc.
But, I DO understand why the moderators delete ugliness like that. This is a family friendly forum that should not be anyone's venue for personal attack.
