What kind of oats should i feed my chickens

Hi

Glad you could join the flock! Your birds should be ok to have some oats as a treat but their main food should be a good quality chicken feed. A good quality chicken feed provides all the nutrition they need were as oats would be lacking in vital things they need to stay healthy.

As said oats are not a balanced diet, but as far as supplements or treats go they are a very good one of those as they are high in protein...

As for 'kind' get what is cheap (likely feed grade whole oats) and remember it's a treat not a diet or feed...

As a special treat - once in awhile - like maybe for birthdays -

chickens generally love warm, cooked oatmeal. watermelon, meal worms (

) and black oil sunflower seeds.

Treats should not exceed 10% of their food.
