Obama Adressing All School Children In Us . Propaganda Or What?

I am still not fully understanding what his message is to be...... IF he is just wanting to speak to them on working hard in school, then that is fine with me. IF he has any plans of trying to coerse children to help his political agenda in any way then my kids will not be allowed to hear it. No need to try to go above childrens heads and start brain washing them

But I am still not clear on it so IDK what I will do that day.....best option is most likely is to be safe rather than sorry and that is not to let the children listen to the nonsense that comes out of that mans mouth....Never have I disliked someone in office as I do him.

Oh Honey, Mr. Bush was spying on you for years!

Every president has maintained a intelligence service and there always has been so called spying on certain individuals. Obama clearly asked fellow Americans to turn in other Americans voicing freedom of speech. Another time in history neighbors and children were asked to spy on neighbors and parents, it was not a good thing. Obama before elected also asked his supporters to "get in the face" of those opposing him and he specially referenced neighbors, coworkers. There is a pattern to his actions and to me it is disturbing.

I would think that if he were only going to encourage them to do well in school, then there would be no problem with posting a transcript of the speech. Also, I would think that it would be plastered all over the mainstream media.

Our school district has not yet made a decision as to how to handle it. My kids will not be in school if it will be shown.

I for one think it's a little immature that everybody is reacting this way.
Do you honestly think that the kids will pay attention/care at all? He's just another face on the screen for a lot of smaller kids. The only ones that will pay attention are the ones who have been forced by their parents to have the same opinion-which, by the way, often starts to backfire when they get older.
I'm not saying that you can't choose to keep your kids at home. That should be and always has been your right. I am saying that it's a little bit kindergarten to make kids skip school because of the way you feel about a certain person. Let them develop their own opinions. I am grateful to my parents that they never discussed politics with me, so that I could look at the evidence and form my own opinion. And if they're too young to form this opinion, then they won't pay attention anyway.
P.S. The whole pledge of allegiance thing? This is what I always say-not because I am truly offended, just because I think that it's more manipulative to say that then to have the kids watch the President's address.
I pledge allegiance, to the can, of the delicious food that is tuna. And to the fishy for which it cans, one portion, just for me, with olive oil and pickles on top.
