Obama , try to stop execution of Killer of 16 yr old girl

From what I've read here (which is all I know about it) I'd say we should thank Obama for trying to protect all of us. I find it rather unsettling, to put it mildly, that the guy was executed in spite of not following the treaty. What we think of the prisoner or what he did is a separate issue, in my mind.

The United States and Mexico signed the treaty.

Texas didn't

The Federal Govt had no business getting involved in the case at all, since he was not charged with any Federal crimes

Obama was simply trying to gain favor with Hispanics for their votes.​
 
Trust me, He got treated WAY better in OUR prison, then he would have in a Mexican prison. Hes no fool, he didnt even want to deal with the Mexican govt and prison system. He lived the life of luxury while he waited to die.

OOH and whats that saying??

I'm sure there are facts I'm not aware of. But I must say, it doesn't make much sense to me that the US signed the treaty and Texas didn't. Seems to me the US signing should make it valid in all states. Or, if states have to sign such things individually, then I guess it wasn't really a treaty, since not all parties signed. (I have no idea how such things work.) And it seems like the Fed govt should be involved in any aspect of the case involving a federal treaty.

But then I know zilch about politics, so who knows.

On an issue like this I think you might be right or at least have a point worth considering. The treaty is at a Federal level. It doesn't sound like anyone knows what exactly is in the treaty. I certainly wouldn't rely on ANY news source or commentator for that info.

As for Obama trying to get the Latino vote. He's already got that. The other side gave it to him with a ribbon and a pretty bow tie attached. Besides, why do you think Latinos are in favor of saving some low life that killed a young Latino girl in such a brutal manner? Obama was attempting to hold up our end of the treaty so that next time we have an American citizen unjustly or justly tried in a Mexican court our government might be able to help them. Obama had no political gain on anything. All he had was potential political loss. He did what he felt was right for our country, just as he always does.

I'm confused about the treaty that some of you mentioned that Texas didn't sign. I saw this on another website: "a failure of notification is a violation of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations -- a treaty that the United States is a party to -- which says that foreigners in custody have the right to consular notification, communication and access." Is this the same thing you all are talking about? I thought states had their own laws with execution.

Frankly, this "person" should have been more American than Mexican if he lived here since 2 and he was 38. This is the ramification of not enforcing legal immigration laws. As it stands, our president on down are breaking the law by not enforcing this law.

I googled where I lived years ago and the local hospital went bankrupt (2008) because 60% were not paying. This hospital had been there for 131 years. According to a poster on a blog, women were flying in to deliver babies. Ill people with life threatening diseases like kidney and diabetes were also flying in for treatment; they would have died in their own country. Are we ever going to solve these problems?
