Occupy

Could it be, because they know that it would give their hero a huge black eye....

Who is their hero? The cardboard box company? Missing that one, because I haven't heard them rally to anyone personally.

Sorry you can't figure that one out....I'm sure that the majority of them, if they voted in 2008, voted for Obama. Government bailouts are the reason the banks are sitting fat, and the working man is hurting. Here's a chant for them: DC is where we need to be.

What should be pointed out (and may have, at one point, but I'll reiterate), is this: If you're only getting your information about the occupy events (literally world-wide, now) from any standard media (CBS, MSNBC, FOX, ABC, CNN, etc.), you're not getting the whole story. Unless you're actually watching the live broadcasts by the protesters themselves from the various events, you're only getting what the corporate-controlled mass media wants you to get.

I support their basic premise, and I hope their actions continue to get noticed, and supported, by big names and celebrities. Eventually the whole story will come out, corporate-controlled media or not.

They are not getting monetary support from any union, or any political group, and want to continue it this way. Any needs are being met by donations from those individuals who support the events yet cannot be there in person. There are secure sites set up for each event just for that.

Porta-potties? If they did rent them, they would not be allowed to set them up and use them, especially in hostile places like NYC, where they are not even allowed microphones or tents. On a side note, the picture of the fellow defecating on the NYPD cop car was taken by a professional photographer, who supposedly just happened to come by and notice it in time to snap a nicely posed professional picture. No name given for the individual, no proof what group he may or not have been with, nothing *except* the picture, which suddenly (conveniently) became viral. Sounds suspiciously like a set-up to me.

IMO, to compare them and their cleanliness with tea party events (where some people often as not showed up with weapons and signs saying the weapons were unloaded *this* time) is just a waste of energy. Completely different type of event. One was over & done with within a few hours, the other has been ongoing since the 17th of September. I would doubt that *any* group could prevent 100% of littering for weeks at a time.

I applaud their direct and non-violent use of their Constitutional First Amendment right.

Just my two cents' worth.

That's quite the laundry list.
I don't know enough about the protests to have much of an opinion yet.
Saw last night on the local news that the mayor of Seattle is now supporting the protests, now that the nuts & bolts of protesting have been worked out.
They said across the country more & more local politicians are supporting the protests.

Thank you!

And as said by Jon Stewart commenting on the New's reaction of the protestors committing such crimes that, say, Tea Partiers wouldn't. . . .

The Tea Party namesake was after the most celebrated act of theft and vandalism in our Nation's history.

Again sorry but so far all I see of "reporting" on the protests from the News is a bunch of radically right-sided criticism completely astray from the real point of the protest.

Figured that is who you meant because of how you worded it...but I haven't seen any Obama backing thus far from the movement.

I haven't read all the posts but my take on Occupy... is that this is a replay of the 1960s. I agree that no CEO should receive a BONUS of 100 million or banks should be dealing in stocks and bonds--Be a bank! Why aren't the Occupiers also upset with Barney Frank/Chris Dodd and the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac housing debacle that they caused or President Clinton who thought that everyone, including the poor, has the right to home ownership even if broke? Isn't it a conflict of interest for President Obama to appoint Jeffrey Immelt, CEO of GE, to his administration. Immelt is exactly what the Occupiers are complaining about. He has sent good paying jobs off shore. How can Immelt be objective to Obama and GE at the same time? Much of our complaints (citizens, TP, Occupiers, etc.) are caused by our government/business that seem to be more interested in global issues rather than national.

This IS political. The liberals railed and called the Tea Party names. Now Pelosi, who called the TP astroturf, said this Occupy... is free speech. Her family has also had some financial dealings with government. The unions are now involved. Sounds as if this is a concerted effort to neutralize the TP and rally the troops in time for the election in 2012.

As far as the behavior, how can anyone compare the Tea Party crowds to the Occupiers? It's already been stated on here and TV that they are behaving crudely. The MSM got all upset if they saw ONE TP person with a rude sign. I haven't heard a word from MSM about the occupiers signs. Will we see the clenched fist as we saw in the '60s?

Both sides have a valid point to rally--our government and society stinks, IMHO. (BTW, I don't belong to the TP)
