A very promising start.

kdunn716, what kind of incubator did you use?  And what did you use for a thermometer and hygrometer?  I attempted to hatch Orpingtons last year in July and I got 6/18 to hatch, and one died 4 days after hatching.  :(  For now I have 7 eggs under two broody Silkies to see if I get better results.  Their hatch day is the 23rd :jumpy

I have the farm inovators one i just used the thermometer that came with it to put inside and a hygrometer that i got on ebay. I bought a digital one but it doesnt seem to be as accurate as the others. So far 9 out of 35 have hatched. I hope you have better luck with the broody :)

Yay! #1 just hatched! Salmon Faverolle! This is going to be a loooong night!

Awesome! I love faverolle chicks!

Guess what guys, turns out, I'm hatching again! It was not in my plans, but my silkie hen went broody again. I could either break her up (which I don't have the heart to do anyways) and have her go broody in the middle of winter like she did last time (that involved her being in the basement, a big mess, a brain-damaged chick, ect) or just let her do it now and be happy.
She was sitting on a nest the other hens use to lay and had broken eggs all over her. I trimmed off the dirty feathers and set her own two eggs in her crate. She took right to them. Tomorrow I hope to get some bantam eggs to give her, when I can get some clean, unbroken ones.

Looks like I'm rejoining the hatch-a-long!

My 2 week old chicks who will soon have some brothers and sisters joining them in 2 weeks time. My lil runt right up front posing from the camera. I was scared for her at first she was stuck in her egg and is still noticable smaller than everyone else.

She's so cute and tiny! She must just have problems with stunted growth, but she seems to be doing pretty well.

Went to sleep with 9 in the Bator, this morning I can't count them! Waiting on Momma heating pad to warm up for the transfer.

@tiffani day they are adorable! I always love the runt. I have 4 week Olds that are going to the coop soon. (I hope) I also had a runty one and she holds her own.

Congrats everyone on your hatchers!!!! Woot woot! My 6 little honas hatched Sunday. They are in the brooder with the week olds. I met a nice lady and gave her 9 of my month old blue and black isbars. She's a great soul and I know they will be amazing birds for her.

Next crew to hatch is 5 bantams from a BYCmember. So excited for these cuties!

i set 18 silkie eggs from my two groups...not one was fertilized. I guess the silkie gals want no part of that. Bummer.

I also have some hona roosters over hona females and blue and black isbars...so, those will hatch out in a couple weeks.n I need to set up my breeder pens but I am scrambling to get prepared for winter.

Happy hatching all!
